Edit after 9 months : Management Managed to ignore my review and make no comment but had time to answers all the others . Shame on this business and shame on your management. I really wished i could give this place 0 star instead of this one star . This incident happened summer 2020 on my birthday . I will try and cut the story short . My friends baked me birthday cake and brought it to the restaurant. We asked the front lady that if we could take the cake inside and she said yes. Later after sitting down the manager, Amanda came and extremely rudely told us that we cant have the cake inside . We tried to explain that we already asked the front before we bringing it in and that they probably should communicate better with each other . She was extremely unpleasant, Rude and ignorant. After that she tried every possible thing she can to Make our night miserable . We asked for sanitizer, she again rudely said we can go and have some from the front. We asked again she brought small sauce container that didnt have any sanitizer in it and smashed it on our table and left without saying anything . We were stunned !! Stunned. Our food were coming so late one after one another . My food never even arrived. after 45 minutes and us asking what happened to the food, she said oh kitchen forgot to cook it . THEY FORGOT TO COOK IT ?? And to make up for it she said I dont need to Pay for it ! Oh fantastic . Thank you for not letting me Pay for the food i never had . This is the most horrifying and terrible customer service I have ever had in my entire life .

Fast forward to two months later, after emailing the general manager, he apologized and asked us to come back so he can make it up to us . We went there again and upon sitting down he came up to us and asked to leave the restaurant and due to the incident they cannot and do not want to have us and serve us and that we cant ever come back to the that location . I dont know how on earth your still a business and running with this terrible...

Update 09Dec2019: The restaurant responded to this review with a false statement. No Browns employee has attempted to "connect" with me by email or otherwise regarding my comments. The reply of "We are so sorry to hear about your experience but glad that we were able to connect with you over email." is simply untrue.

Original Review: After contacting the restaurant for a RESERVATION using the contact us on their website, I quickly received a response that they don’t take reservations and to download the YELP app for waitlist.

I did as instructed, registered for yelp and watched the app as 7:30pm approached (our desired time). The YELP app said 9-19 minutes wait. Sounds fine to me so we walked over to Browns.

We arrived to a busy restaurant but there were lots of tables available so upon approach it looked fine. But things were not as they appeared because we were told those tables are being held for RESERVATIONS! The hostess told us that they do indeed take reservations starting at 8pm and those free tables aren’t available at 7:30 because they were being held for 8pm reservations and that the wait some was not as YELP said but instead 1-1.5 hours.

We’ve been looking forward to trying your restaurant and saved it for tonight; only to be turned away. The bigger shame is that we had visitors in from all over the country and the US and had talked up your restaurant design.

Had we known, we would have happily moved our plans to accommodate a reservation. The marketing manager who responded to their online requests and the hostess had two different stories to tell. Possibly the restaurant will respond to this review and inform the public how they’d prefer we contact the establishment and at what time they’d like us to attend... my real complaint here is that they didn’t give me the information I needed to have a...

Oh wow. I simply have nothing good to say about this place. Location: One of our party was on crutches, another has a back injury. We had to climb a long set of stairs to get to it, It was a difficult climb for both. The one on crutches had use the washroom during our meal, and it was located down a long flight of stairs as well. By the time we were done, both were in a lot of pain. Atmosphere: The music was so loud we had to yell at each other to talk. Food: I had hot wings and a calamari. While garnished well with excellent sauces, the calamari was the same undercooked frozen boxed stuff you get everywhere else. Wings were typically mostly Franks' Red Hot tasting. When will franchise restaurants like this do something original? Ribs my dinner mates had were small and so overcooked the meat stuck to the bone. Service: Terrible! Party of 5. We stood at the front for 15 minutes waiting to be sat despite seeing empty booths. Once seated, our server was excellent to start, but then after our drinks arrived, she disappeared! She sat in a corner with a woman for 40 minutes, chatting. We were never even asked by anyone else if we wanted more drinks. I'd ordered a side condiment 3 times before it finally arrived 3/4 through my meal. By the end of the visit we were all very angry. For the prices we had to pay, service should be stellar. The waitress showed up to get the bill paid, and only then did she ask if any of us wanted our drinks refilled. Really? No tip was given by 3 of 4 at our table, and as we were walking out, we overheard the server complaining about it! I always thought tips were for good service. She didn't serve us! No service at all will be tipped accordingly. Funny, I'm usually a very generous tipper. I will never be back to this place. Avoid...

It’s been about 7 years since our first visit to Browns Socialhouse. Since that time, they’ve opened up a number of new locations and have taken a spot in the very popular “premium casual dining” market that’s been primarily occupied by the likes of Earls, and Cactus Club. Now, if these places all seem a bit “same”, it’s probably because there’s good reason… the person in charge of Browns used to work at Earls and then went on to open up Cactus Club. On this particular day in mid-August, we found ourselves at the Browns at QE Theatre in downtown Vancouver. Due to Covid issues, many restaurants have been taking advantage of outdoor patio seating during the warm and sunny weather. To be honest, the view from this patio isn’t much to write home about but it was nice that they were even open as a couple of other restaurants that we tried to visit were closed. I opted for the Florida Special ($19.75) which is described as a crispy chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon, Swiss cheese, tomato, and creamy coleslaw on a toasted baguette, served with fries. While I did enjoy the sandwich, I did notice a few things… the “toasted” baguette didn’t really seem toasted and was missing a bit of crispness which may have helped the sandwich hold up better. Part of the problem was that the sandwich was a bit too saucy which made the baguette fall apart (also not sure why they cut this up into 3 strange pieces). It also lacked a bit of crunch which I’d expect from coleslaw but, overall, not a bad sandwich and the fries were addictive. If you like the things which make places like Cactus Club popular, you probably won’t be disappointed here.

I was here for the first time for after-work drinks and dinner. Have been to a few other Browns in the past and the experience here is similar. It’s pretty standard bar food and drinks, consistently done very well. Not particularly memorable, but a safe bet for drinks and a meal with large groups or people you don’t know well enough to know the sort of things they like. I got the veggie burger here, omitted the cheese. Just a basic veggie burger, pretty good, not “meaty”. Messy, though I imagine the cheese helps to hold it together. The side salad was quite good - it’s a nice mix of veggies. I had a spicy jalapeño marg to drink, which was very enjoyable. I only had the 1.25 oz version, but it tasted strong and spicy. Loved the spicy salt rim. I remember thinking Browns was overpriced a few years ago, but now the prices are not much worse, if at all, than average for a bar downtown. $20 veg burger, $10 margarita. We were seated right away with no reservation on Tuesday around 5:30. Our server was nice. She gave us way too long of a break between dropping off our drinks and taking food orders, but the food came out quickly enough and it was easy to get our bills when we were ready. The restaurant is divided into an “inside” and an “outside” area that are both actually indoors (I think the outer area converts into a patio during the summer). We sat “outside” which has a cool sunroom look, but we were near the entrance and I was cold since we kept catching the draft from the door. There was a heater above us but the table blocked it from reaching my legs. I would choose to sit “inside” if I came back during a cool season.
