This is a cool restaurant with a good vibe. I would imagine that it would get super busy on a game night or concert night so I would recommend a reservation for those nights. We came on Wednesday night and we were seated right away. My husband was pleasantly surprised by the amount of beer on the menu, there is tons! We did the platter for two with the salad and yam fries. This is a good way to get an idea of the different choices on the menu and see what you like or don’t like. I am never a fan of pulled pork, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good their pulled pork is. It’s not too saucy and the taste is not too bold. It’s just right! The brisket was my favourite and I really enjoyed it. Neither of us enjoyed the sausage or the ribs. The sausage was too spicy for me and the ribs had a strange flavour and way too much sauce on them. The only recommendation I would make is there needs to be some indication or information when someone says they are not good with spicy stuff. There were a few things that were quite spicy, and for a person who struggles with spice, it can ultimately wreck my meal. It didn’t in this case, but there were a few things I wouldn’t have tried if I had known more information on it. When we go back again, I will definitely get the brisket meal. My husband said he would get the pulled pork meal. Another review commented on this being pricey for two people. I would disagree with that considering the amount of food that we got I think the fact that I am a wine drinker and do not enjoy beer made the bill more expensive because wine is typically much more expensive by the glass, we did not feel that the prices were unreasonable. The platter for two was $65 and there was more than enough food. The service was really good, they were very attentive and helpful. It looks like it would be a fun place on a...

Ordered delivery through Foodora, and my two $20 bbq platters came like this. Can you guess what happens? Apparently the people at Devil's Elbow can't, or at least, don't care. Most of the fries (except the very top few were drenched in meat juice and some sauce and were soggy. The coleslaw was also in juice, but that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that it's warm. They did provide some extra "Carolina red sauce" but honestly, that tastes like marinara sauce, so if they really do it that way in one part of Carolina (not convinced it would taste like this), let's pick another region. The other platter was pulled pork, and I would have wanted a little container of extra sauce with that one (and it wasn't there). The pulled pork is chewier than I've ever had it (I've spent quite a lot of time down South), so I'm not sure if they were going for that effect or not. Sometimes that's desirable in some styles of ribs, but I've never heard of that in pulled pork. They don't use styrofoam at least, but a little separation would have been great (especially since cole slaw was in both meals - it would have been easy to combine two orders worth into a container). Also, I wouldn't have chosen fries as a side in delivery anyway, but they don't have choices of sides in the foodora menu, but if you eat in the restaurant, you can choose from all sorts of things that would travel better than fries (even if the fries were separated). Also, there were no multi-person platters on the Foodora menu. They could have all sorts of repeat business in delivery if they just used some common sense or care. Too bad, as I was also excited to try eating in the restaurant before, but now I am not. I try end criticism with a positive: if it wasn't warm, I think the pumpkin seeds on the slaw is a nice touch. But pumpkin seeds alone can't...

Devil's Elbow Ale and Smoke House has earned its place as one of the best Smoke Houses in all of Canada, and it's easy to see why. This place has become a must-visit for me every time I'm in Vancouver from Victoria, and it's not hard to convince anyone to join in the delicious experience.

What sets Devil's Elbow apart is not just the incredible food but also the fantastic environment. It's the kind of place where you can spend quality time with friends, enjoying hearty meals and great conversations. Even if you find yourself dining solo, it's a top-notch choice for a satisfying meal.

Now, let's talk about the main event - the food. Devil's Elbow is an absolute paradise for meat lovers. Their smokehouse offerings are nothing short of sensational. From tender and flavorful brisket to mouthwatering ribs, each bite is a journey to BBQ heaven. And don't even get me started on their delectable sides; they complement the meats perfectly.

But it's not just about the food; it's the combination of savory dishes with a well-curated selection of craft beer that makes Devil's Elbow a standout. It's no exaggeration to say that it's the BEST place in town to enjoy a meat coma paired with some fantastic beer choices.

In conclusion, Devil's Elbow Ale and Smoke House is a carnivore's dream come true. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, you'll be captivated by the mouthwatering menu, welcoming atmosphere, and the kind of dining experience that keeps you coming back for more. If you're in Vancouver, do yourself a favor and indulge in the culinary delights that await you at...

I was walking around downtown Vancouver looking for a place to have dinner. I was growing weary of walking around, so I settled with the Devil’s Elbow, which I never heard of until I went inside. Coming in, I got a table for myself right away in the less than half vacant restaurant. I ordered the Fried Chicken Plate with Smoked Mashed Potatoes & Coleslaw, also with the Kentucky Corpse Reviver cocktail. The cocktail was brilliant in flavour; both the liquor and non-alcoholic ingredients complimented each other and had the right amount of intensity for liquor. The coleslaw tasted better than expected, even saying it is the best coleslaw I have had at any restaurant. The mashed potatoes The chicken was very crunchy with some moisture, but the Cajun seasoning for the chicken was the standout aspect that made it taste delicious. The mashed potatoes were very savoury with the green onions, broth and the skin blended together. The restaurant has that common-hipster bar aesthetic with the wooden furniture and deteriorated walls. However, their approach on the restaurant was appealing to me, especially with the paintings they had throughout the place. The service was more than satisfactory and the waitress I had seemed very nice. My only nitpick is that the food is a little pricey. So, I highly recommend anyone, either a local in Vancouver or anyone visiting there to try Devil’s Elbow for either dinner or lunch.
