๐ Overall review: โ Had a great experience here and would totally recommend others to try out this spot too if youโre around Wanchai and are looking for a good value for money dinner set! Set dinners for under $500 hkd are hard to come by nowadays especially in the HK Island area. Their lunch sets also start at just $๐ญ๐ต๐ด ๐ต๐ธ๐ฑ!
โ To start off, we had the ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ ๐ฝ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ and ๐๐๐ฃ-๐๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐ค๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐จ which were so well executed and delicious. The tartare was perfectly seasoned and fresh, and went perfectly with the crunchy toast slices. The foie gras was creamy with a buttery texture.
โ The highlight of the meal were definitely the ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ก๐ค๐๐ฃ and ๐ฟ๐ช๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐พ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐๐ฉ. Portions were very generous and both dishes were incredibly tasty. The duck leg had a rich, savoury flavour with a hint of sweetness from the fat and spices to balance it out. It was super tender, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The pickled vegetables went perfectly with the duck as they helped cut through the grease nicely. The striploin was seared to a perfect medium-rare, and was so juicy with a strong meaty flavour. The mashed potato was creamy and buttery too, and was perfect alongside the steak.
โ The ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ฃ๐ช๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ฉ was the best way to end the meal. The chestnut was smooth, fragrant and not overly sweet either. Loved the buttery aroma and crunch on the...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited this Western resto in Wan Chai with colleagues for welcome lunch. . We all ordered the 4 Courses Lunch Set. Following are some of our selections for the First Course, Second Course, Main Course, Desserts and Drinks.
-First Course: -Hand-diced Seafood Tartare The seafood tartare contained salmon, tuna, angel shrimp, bell peppers and avocado. The angel shrimp tasted sweet, while the avocado gave it a buttery texture. The tuna was slightly fishy though.
-Second Course: -Mushroom Soup The soup had a generous amount of mushroom, and with each sip, you could taste the richness of the mushroom. It was quite creamy.
-Main Course: -USDA Prime Striploin (+HKD148) The medium-rare striploin was tender with an alluring pink interior. It was nicely seasoned with sea salt, although the meat on the right side seemed a bit saltier than the meat on the left. Overall, it was savoury with a great texture.
-Seafood Pasta with Onsen Egg My colleague ordered this and I didn't try it, so I was not sure abt the flavour. Cheese was sprinkled on the pasta.
-Desserts: -Dessert of the Day The dessert of the day was a chocolate tart, and it was extremely small, perhaps only around the length of my little finger...Its chocolate flavour was rich though.
-Affogato (+HKD68) The vinalla ice cream was topped with espresso, exuding an intense caffeine aroma.
-Drinks: -Iced Mocha (+HKD48) The mocha was luxurious and smooth. After mixing it, it had a balanced combination of bitterness and sweetness. . The resto has a nile blue colour tone, and the seating is quite comfortable. The staff initially seemed a bit grumpy when she served us, but her attitude improved by the very end...
ย ย ย Read moreAfter reading some comments about the resto, I visited it with high expectations; however, I was disappointed. Arrived at the resto at 7pm and the waiter was nice. His manner was amiable and he tried his best to inform me details of the menu. The decor was a bit old and might need some tidy up. Ordered the 5- course dinner and I would like to upgrade a shellfish bisque but it was sold out. And some of the reds as well. Then came the food. The starter was 48month iberico jamon, hmmm, I could tell the oil was rich but the savoury scent somehow was not very standing out. The soup du jour was pumpkin with chestnut soup, it was all right but nth to do with impressive neither. Not to mention the caeser salad. The first three courses were completely disappointments. Then the striploin (USDA prime level), not bad, cherry pink and tenderness was fair. They put some effort on side dishes as well, but that also required more improvements. The berries tart as the dessert.... Um I would like to say more like berries ice cream with some mousse. Quite tasty but I would expect sth more. Paired with a cup of Earl Grey tea, but the tea was tasteless and had no scent at all. The portion was all right to me.
I like the service, the food was not impressive but could be accepted by some ppl. Probably because I had a high hope to hv nice food in the resto, too much expectation failed my...
