Restaurant Week 4-course Lunch Set Menu $148+10%
First of all, I am a very picky person. I was shocked when I arrived at the restaurant. It was almost full house and very noisy. The tables are quite packed. Not only with big group of diners but also loud music.
I thought it should be a restaurant for romance as its name was L’amour. The chandeliers, huge red roses, white grand piano and red spade and heart shaped chair were getting me wrong? Frankly, the decor is unfortunately very tacky. We were sitting near the grand piano which was almost just under the speaker. The music at the beginning was taylor swift. Fine somenlove songs. After that it was Eminem. Is there anything okay with the music selection of the restaurant? Eminem plus grad piano and chandeliers? It was way too loud and i almost want to cover my ears. It ruined the vibe.
Food- Generally all the dishes were very average. Nothing extraordinary. I can say that it is Hong Kong Style ‘French’ Cuisine. Nothing authentic at all.
Daily Soup- Daily carrot soup with garlin toast
toast was not crispy anymore but the soup was ok not that creamy.
Appetizers- tasmania sea urchin toast
at least the sea urchin was not in awful taste.
Main Dish- grilled prime rib 2-piece prime rib with carrot and puree the menu didn’t mention about what kind of the sauce at all. I supposed it is red wine sauce but it had too much acidity. it was like korean style braised rib.
Seafood pearl barley in lobster sauce
very little flavor of lobster sauce mussels and shrimps were frozen quality.
DailyDessert- basque cheese cake I like the dessert most. technically it was not basque at all as it was not burnt at the top. just a tiny piece of cake with berries on top.
Service- very Hong Kong style attitude. only the female servants were better.
Very disappointing experience.
Not for romance, ironically for its...

On google review, where we can express our opinion freely, this restaurant's ratings are extremely two sided, 5 stars or 1 star mostly. You can pretty much conclude that its either a very fine restaurant with bad competitors giving it one star, or a very bad restaurant with restaurant owner brainwashing 5 stars.
My experience is, it took me 3.5 hours to finish the dinner. They claimed that it is to ensure quality, but i can tell you this restaurant is at a $100 range quality. They turned their lights on and off the whole night just to lite sparkling birthday candles, but the procedure is so-canned that it is more of an irritating experience than a happy moment. The few tables next to us all complained to the staff for different reasons: food quality, lighting, speed etc... and of course the complaint within ourselves are 10x as harsh. The lady next to me actually said sorry to her boyfriend for picking this restaurant, and the guy said the restaurant should be sorry, not her. I feel sorry for her. The staff also looks unhappy, and i pity for them because they have been receiving complaints for the whole night. The restaurant owner should be ashamed. Go check out the miserable scene yourself before pre-paying anything to them, especially if this dinner has any special meaning to you.
If you believe that my review is a competitor review, please go ahead and try for youself, it is your money and your time, I don't care. If you did and also feel the same way as I do, please also check out the other so-call popular restaurant platform in HK and their reviews... then you realize those so call reviews is more of a bought service than...
Read moreSo, this was my second visit to this restaurant, and while it had its moments, it wasn’t quite as amazing as the first time.
First off, the service was a bit peculiar. Most of the waitresses only spoke Mandarin, and they were like, “Let’s get these plates clean, even though they’ve only been here for a few minutes!” I was a bit stressed because they kept asking us to clean the oysters platter (3 times just for the oysters) while we were still savoring them.
The food was overall tasty, but the oysters on the oysters tasting menu weren’t as plump or meaty as I had hoped. I don’t blame them, though - it’s probably the supplier’s fault. But it was a bit of a letdown.
Another strange thing was the bill. When we checked out, the restaurant charged us around $500. Wao, what a bargain. But guess what? The restaurant manager called me about 45 minutes later to say that they had made a mistake and that I needed to pay back another $400 something. I’m cool with that because I don’t want the waiter who made the mistake to cover up the price difference from me. But it definitely made the whole experience a bit sour.
We got upgrades on one starter for $48, a main course for $28, and a tiny slice of cheese cake for around $40. So they lunch turned out $480 per person. Now, I know what you’re thinking: $328 was the advertised price, right? Well, it’s a bit tricky because they charge the service charge at their original price. Honestly, I could’ve found many restaurants with better experience for a lunch at this price level.
Post-review note. The manager called me to follow the situation. I can feel their passion for improving the dining experience for the customers. So I slightly tuned up the service rating...
