Edited - I just checked the opening hours on Google and the closing time is 3:45pm. It was really unjustified to ask us to leave at 3:15pm.
Spent over $6000 for a bad experience on Father’s Day.
We were two families celebrating Father’s Day at Porterhouse. The food and service were fine. What made it a bad experience was how the staff rushed us out of the door.
We booked online and pre-paid for 4 adults and 5 kids but the restaurant charged us for 6 adults and 3 kids instead. We asked about the bill then Porterhouse corrected it. This already felt very cheeky of the restaurant to do something like this.
Towards the end, the staff came to tell us that the restaurant closed at 3pm. At 3:15pm, the manager came by and told us we had to leave. He did not offer us to sit at the terrace or another solution. Even before 3pm, we did not ask for any service. The staff could’ve cleared the table and set up table for dinner and we would’ve been ok. We didn’t require the staff to serve us at all and understand they deserve a rest. All we wanted was to sit as the table or another alternative within the restaurant for another 10-20 mins. However, the restaurant did not offer us an alternative seating. Instead the manager came by and told us we had to leave at 3:15pm. We felt very unwelcomed.
In our experience, many restaurants that offer Buffett may close the Buffett at a certain time but they allow guests to sit for longer. This was not the case at Porterhouse. Their officials hour is 12-3pm and they really expect you to pay and be out of the restaurant by 3pm. It would’ve made no difference to the staff to leave us for a while longer as they cleaned and cleared the tables as we were not asking for any service. Instead, Porterhouse manager came by and kicked us out of the restaurant.
This really put a damper to our Father’s Day experience. Even though the food is fine, I’ll never come back or recommend it to anyone. There are many restaurants with better service in HK where they make you feel welcomed. Pirata group restaurants always respect the guests and ensure the guests have a good experience. I’ll take my business...
Read morePorterhouse has been on my to-try list for quite some time. I finally got to visit it with my friends who love great food and steak as much as I do! The four of us ordered 4 starters and 2 main meat dishes to share.
We were guessing what this starter was, and it turned out to be Burrata with heirloom tomato, beetroot, dried olives and poilane bread. We were very satisfied with the juicy heirloom tomato, yet the cheese wasn’t what we expected…
This Trio Ham Platter set the standard of starters right back on track to a high level! We didn’t order any red wine or cheese to go with the ham, yet they were very enjoyable on their own. We could hardly stop eating until the next starter was served.
Seafood in this steak house was also nicely cooked! These Seared Scallops with parsnip puree, honey glazed prosciutto and toasted hazelnut gremolata were absolutely delightful! Fresh and meaty!
Last but not least, the Octopus Legs! This was the best starter so far, the octopus legs were grilled perfectly, and they were so fresh that you could almost feel like they were melting in your mouth!
Okay, time to talk about the meats. I was absolutely startled by this variety of salt and sauces they provide! It’s great to have different choices, but that’s a bit too much for me as I had difficulty choosing which one I wanted to try :P
And of course we did get steak! This off the bone medium Australian “Rangers Valley" Rib Eye was a Superb charcoal grilled steak! I love the amount of fat in it, which made the whole steak very delicious. Animal fats are the best fat! Looking at this picture and writing this makes my mouth waters! It’s that good!
The salmon was great too, but I love the steak more. Fish doesn’t feel as “meat” as steak to me, if you know what I mean.
We couldn’t resist this Smoked Cheddar Mac N’ Cheese as a side. The molten cheese at the bottom was gorgeous! Make sure you mix it well before you dig in, so that you can enjoy the full flavor. I even dipped the salmon in this...
Read morePorterhouse has officially moved up, literally, now sitting pretty on the 24/F of California Tower in Central. Think floor-to-ceiling windows, loads of natural light, and a killer city view. The space is open, modern, and surprisingly chill for Central. Even David Laris is known to swing by 👀

🧀 Flaming Cheese Wheel Pasta (+$98 for 2) Yes, the cheese wheel is real! They toss pasta tableside in a 36-month Parmigiano wheel with champagne cream sauce. We chose Strozzapreti, chewy, cheesy, perfect. Add truffle (+$98) and it’s next-level!
🍰 Dessert and ☕ (+$20) Orange cheesecake, light, moist, not too sweet. Finished with a latte. A clean, satisfying end to the meal.
Since moving upstairs, Porterhouse is feeling fresh, stunning views, great food, and a lunch set that’s flexible and actually worth it (especially for Central). It gets busy during lunch,...
