My husband and I have been to this restaurant for a few times. The food is alright, and the view is great. That’s why we took our parents there before our departure from HK last December. But the experience was rather disappointing.
It all started with a female receptionist who showed a lack of humanity when I asked if she could offered a chair for my elderly Parkinson’s-stricken father while we were waiting to be seated. She refused right away without any sympathy. It is understandable that the restaurant has its constraint - but you would have expected the request would be turned down nicely, as it was asked nicely. However, the receptionist’s expression was just blank and cold. Pretty odd for someone without a touch of warmth and service-minded attitude to be standing at the entrance?
In the middle of our meal, we gave our underaged kids some home-made drinks. There are just 2 small bottles and when the kids were slurping them through the straws someone came over to remind us that no outside drinks are allowed. To say Ana Ten is a children-unfriendly restaurant is to put it mildly - not only children tablewares were not offered to the kids - there is not even one thing in the drink list that is suitable for the kids. We spoke to someone who appeared to be a manager - he suggested to give us two cups to pour the home-made drinks in. After a long wait, they eventually brought us two tins which looked really out of place on the dining table, more like those that pour in the hot water at a local cafe (cha-chan-ten). They are hardly any cups for the children to be used. As we are complied and not complained type of customers, we didn’t make a protest. However, we hope the restaurant could have offered some children cups in the future for other young little ones.
As said we have been to Ana Ten for a few times, what striked us most about this restaurant is that the managers’ attitude is in big contrast to the frontline waiters and waitresses. A couple of them who served our table were most pleasant and helpful, for example in passing on our request to cook the Kinki fish in soup rather then the sauce as in the menu. Whereas the managers looked aloof and rather complacent. The frontline service workers are the saving grace...
Read moreThe waitress was very rude my 87 year old grandfather was waiting for me there and ordered a set meal (tempura set, good for 1)
when i arrived my grandfather was not able to eat his food (only 1 pc tempura and egg custard) and left the rest untouched so he had me eat it. he ordered 1 iced coffee.. then I requested for tea which is complimentary.
the waitess looked at me from head to toe (im wearing sneakers, jeans and columbia PFG shirt) and was relunctant to serve me another cup of tea.. then with an irritated voice telling her co-worker (一個人的!一個人的!) (for one person! one person!) while relunctantly pouring tea to another cup but she just decided not to and ignored me on the spot. she did not know that i can understand chinese. (I am chinese afterall)
i dont know because i spoke in a mixture if filipino/english/fujian chinese to my grandfather that caused the discrimination. or because the set meal was for 1 only.
but still very rude for a 328 hkd meal plus 25hkd tip. I should have taken the Tip back
the waitress should have told me the reason for no service or offered me to pay for my tea or buy another drink. but instead she gave comments behind my back and refused to serve me tea.
the food taste like something u can eat from a convenience store (very over priced) staff is rude and discrimating
asides for the purpose of taking photos from the view deck DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR FOOD...
Read moreWent to this place thru a fren’s recommendation, despite the wonderful environment, views, and food of this restaurant, but the service wasn’t very pleasant when we paid for 10% extra service charge.
We went here during lunch time, Its a 10 mins walk from the one side of shopping mall to the other, which is the “tip of peninsula”, and this makes the location maybe not very convenient for some ppl however unique, which brings up the top, first row view of the harbour.
The food was nice, went w my frend, had some sashimi, tempura, rice and udon, all tasted nice, they had an authentic Japanese taste and they tasted fresh. For the price, This meal cost us $2000 in total, this worths it for its taste and atmosphere, as maybe meals like this in other places around the world might cost way more than this.
However everything has two sides, the service was a bit sloppy, they weren’t very patient and polite, and wen I was asking for help, they didn’t show any notice until one minute later, therefore as mentioned making think that the 10% service charge doesn’t really worths it.
Overall, top views, top food, which pushes the price up, will be a wonderful experience if just to dine once a while, apart from...
