Food is ok, service is poor. This is my fourth time dining here and second time eating here for the evening session. The signature dish is obviously their Peking duck which can be ordered half or a whole duck. It is served with an array of side complimentary sauces and cucumber. Today it was just me and a family member so we had the half duck, crispy prawn with mayo, century egg vegetable stew and oyster omelette. Overall, I would say the food standard is quite good especially the crispy mayo prawn but the Peking duck can be hit or miss. The service leaves much to be desired especially since today was a weekend evening and I booked a few days ago to secure a table outside (I was told to come to the earlier 6PM session to avoid long queues). Once I arrived, I was promptly informed that the table I had outside would not have shelter and they would not be able to switch tables should it start pouring. This was odd as the 6PM session was the first dinner session so they allowed people in already before that? Anyways, we ate outside and the weather was nice but the table was abysmally small/wobbly and could not hold more than 2 dishes. The chairs were also uncomfortable with no padding. We asked to switch to the bigger table outside once another group had left but was promptly told they could not allow this as more parties would come in. This was accompanied by the rude attitudes from servers and managers who just quickly slide your dishes on your table. Overall, this dining experience is nothing new here as it can be seen in other reviews. The main reason why we came here was for the decent food quality, harborside view and the abundance of...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to get invited to this restaurant by a long term friend who lives in Hong Kong. Upon entry you know your in for a special night. The restaurant overlooks Victoria harbour, has high glass windows, large round wooden tables (where we were seated), comfortable chairs and well dressed service staff. We ordered the Abalone which was the biggest piece I have ever had, it was so big, it had to be cut into smaller pieces. The duck was the standout, with one of the chefs cutting the duck in front of your table (that was special) and good photo moment. The duck comes with wraps and sides where you can wrap / roll them up together but the duck was so delicious I found it didn't need any of that. The colour on the duck was just outstanding. Other highlights included the pumpkin fish more soup (this one was a real nice surprise) and the other highlight is the fried rice - super tasty and on par with the famous Din Tai Fung fried rice. The rest of the dishes were slightly above standard. Special points go to the presentation, particularly for the desserts (one of them a small pot plant - which from memory was like a fudge / moose dessert). The dishes were not cheap but at a restaurant like this, you can...
Read moreThis restaurant has a good location, a gorgeous view of the city and pretty tasty food. But I would not recommend ordering Peking duck here. The thing is that if you are European or American and ordered half a duck, the amount of meat is very different from how much they offer to Asians. We ordered Peking duck. They brought it on a beautiful table, cut off a few very thin pieces, mostly skin and fat, and took the rest of the duck back to the kitchen. In total, we got about 100 grams of skins and fat with a little meat and that's it. The rest of the duck went back to the kitchen. It was sad and upsetting. In other restaurants in the city, Peking duck with this type of serving is served in two parts, after the first (which we had), there should have been a second part, when they bring the rest of the duck meat separated from the bones and cut into small pieces. This restaurant doesn't do that and as a result we got very, very little meat. Although the price for duck is not small at this restaurant. So don't believe all the photos you can see here, especially regarding the duck. As for the taste, I must tell you that the street food that you can find in the city was tastier than what we were offered in...
