I had Mak’s Wanton Dumplings Scooped Noodle 云吞水饺捞面 HK77. I saw the Wanton Noodle 世家云吞 HK40 thinking that I would get more dumplings due to the higher price but no! I got two tiny wantons and two tiny dumplings. Although they were very tasty and the texture perfect.
The dry noodle was such a small serving it literally took 3 mouthful for me to finish it! So I was still hungry when I finished the Wontan Noodle. I found the noodle thinner than other places which I didn’t like as much. It was also slightly undercooked and slightly too hard.
I then ordered the Fresh Beef Noodle HK60. It was just a few thin slices of beef coated with some corn starch in clear soup and thin egg noodle. The beef was fresh, tender and tasty but the soup and noodle was very bland. It wasn’t worth the money as the serving was also pathetically small and I finished it in another 3 mouthful.
I like the Wontan Noodle but I don’t like the Beef Noodle. Mak’s soup has more MSG in comparison with Lung Kee’s, Shek Kee’s and Lau Sum Kee’s but the least oily.
I ended with HK150 bill which I didn’t understand where the extra HK13 from and not a very satisfying meal!
I would much rather go to Lung Kee’s for a completely satisfying bowl of noodle.

Read moreAll servers were nice even in a cram shop. AC situation is blowing directly to the head. If that can be improved, it will be great. I don’t think is even a good situation even in hot summer day. Bring a hat and jacket all seasons. Lol.
Food was great. Dine in and take out. The noodles in the takeout still maintain the shape and form. Regardless what’s in the noodles, the taste was amazing and even addictive. Even the veggies are good. Finished the whole portion!! The touch of a oil drizzle wasn’t too much nor pretentious, it’s well made and well served.
Dine in for rice noodle soup, the noodles even wasn’t on the main stage comparing to the egg noodles, rice noodles were made well and quality was top notch as well.
Tried the outlet in the mongkok/Jordan area, this one is way better imo.
Wontons we’re good. Not the best but good. The wrap is a bit large for the shrimp portion but it’s definitely worth to try regardless.
I praise the food prep. Chefs did a great job on the serving the right food texture on the bowl. Hot and tasty. NOT CHEAP THO but nothing is...

Mak's Noodle has a total of 9 outlets all over Hong Kong. So far, we have visited at least 4 out of these 9 over the past 3 years from Causeway Bay to Tsim Sha Tsui. Fisherman's congee or San Pan Congee (荔灣艇仔粥) is our "must eat" and top favorite. Besides, we also love the inexpensive (HKD28.00) Shredded Dried Scallop Plain Congee. Seafood ingredients are of top grade.
Mak's brand of food standard is consistent. This outlet we visited at 19 Lock Road was well-lit, excellent restaurant hygiene and with clean toilet. Service crew were approachable. English menu available for non-Chinese speaking diners. Restaurant close at 0030hr. It is definitely a good venue for late dinner or even supper. Dining option includes well-packed takeout service. Reservation is not necessary as the turn around is quite fast.
(Take note, Google Maps show another addresses at 32 Lock Road of the same Restaurant. The correct Place is at 19 Lock Road. The former is a duplicate with...
