Unfortunate Dining Experience at De Mei Sushi, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

We visited De Mei Sushi in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, on a Friday evening. We arrived at 7:30 pm and were pleasantly surprised that we didn't have to wait for a table and were seated immediately.

The restaurant uses a modern and efficient ordering process with QR code scanning, which was a nice touch.

The overall taste of the dishes was average. However, our experience took a turn for the worse with the uni (sea urchin) sushi. It had a noticeably off taste, suggesting it was not fresh. It was even somewhat foul-smelling.

Even though the charge for the uni sushi was eventually cancelled, the unpleasant experience significantly affected our appetite for the remainder of the meal.

11 Feb 19: lunch with my boss today, not many people at 12:25, staff are nice and responsive. Place is clean and cozy.

We ordered two lunch sets, both are sashimi rice, the sushi rice with sesames and seaweed, you don’t need to add soy sauce as the rice is salty enough, sashimis on top are fresh and thick, the sea urchin is ok (at least no urine taste), the salad is ok and the soup is no special, a milk pudding come after the meal is ok. The price is $96 per set without 10% surcharge.

I highly recommend here was because same menu will be used during holiday and weekend.

Only come here if you can accept blunt hasty rude manners of the waiters. I would recommend to AVOID.

We came here expecting basic services but the waiters here can’t even meet basic standards. We ask something (no uni at a sushi restaurant) and she yelled at us (girl in glasses named Ling). We asked for refilling tea and she came around without a word and cause the floor to be all wet next to us.
