I'm thrilled to share my fantastic dining experience at D’Balu Restaurant! From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and professionalism of the staff made us feel welcome. Our waitress, Kalena, was especially attentive and polite, making sure everything was just as we needed. My boyfriend opted for the spaghetti bolognese, which was accompanied by fantastic bread that perfectly complemented the meal. The Casado with steak was my choice; it was a pleasant surprise for its generous portion and had an excellent salad that accompanied it.
The pina colada was perfectly blended, and the leche flan to-go was a sweet end to our meal. The restaurant itself boasts a great environment with a cute setup, providing a cozy ambiance that was just the perfect way to wind down our day in La Fortuna. What's more, the prices were incredibly reasonable for the quality and amount of food we received. The convenience of its location near our Airbnb was just the cherry on top. D’Balu Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for quality meals and stellar service. So glad we decided to...
Read moreBuyers Beware: While the food was good and the service was fast (though we were the only ones there), we strongly recommend checking your receipt before leaving. We had two young kids with us, so we weren’t as diligent in reviewing the bill at the restaurant. After we left, we realized we were charged more than the menu price for all main dish items and were also billed for two of an item when we only ordered one. If the prices are not what is reflected on the menu, the restaurant should inform the customer upfront.
Additionally, we were asked to pay in cash due to intermittent power outages, which was fine, but it would have been helpful to know this when we sat down. We had just enough cash on us, and if we hadn’t, it could have been an issue.
One more thing to note—while they had bottles of table water available, they brought over still bottled water instead, which we hadn’t specifically requested. Small details like these add up, so be sure to double-check your bill and clarify what...
Read moreI ordered two portions of an appetizer called “hummus and babaganoush”, paying 4,500 colones each. The description of the dish said it included hummus, babaganoush, bread, and roasted vegetables. Naturally, the name makes you think that hummus and babaganoush are the main elements, but instead they were served in two tiny containers, the kind usually used for dipping sauces. In the end, the two portions together amounted to little more than four half-slices of bread, onions with a few extra bits of vegetables, and just two spoonfuls of hummus plus two of babaganoush — essentially an overpriced plate of bread and onions that cost us...
