A MUST TRY IF YOU ARE IN LAFORTUNA. There aren't enough stars in this review to really show you how it feels to be there. You need to be able to speak at least a little Spanish. My Spanish isn't the best but we were able to understand each other very well. We managed to catch our own tilapia and eat it. Super fun vibes. Great music. Very welcoming, fun and nice people. A little ways away from the rest of the village but an absolute must try. Although it is a big open restaurant, it feels cozy. Makes you feel like a local. I highly recommend visiting if you can. We got the fried tilapia --that we caught ourselves by the by ;)-- platter, 2 drinks and a soup. Edited Nov 26: THEY HAVE KARAOKE. I REPEAT, THEY HAVE KARAOKE. I can't put into words just how much you should come visit. A friend my gf and I made in el salto invited us to do karaoke there. And I am the kind of person who can't say no to Karaoke. We sang: My way, Livin la Vida Loca, Matalàs, Bare necessities, Bidi bam bam, Acompañame and Bohemian rhapsody. I can't put into words just how much fun we all had. It may seem like a little ways away from the town but its SO worth it. If you want to feel an authentic Costa Rican experience. Go here. People we met there will recommend their favourite coffee, favourite foods to try. Being here as strangers for us, turned into feeling like seeing old friends after years. I am so grateful we got to experience Costa Rica AS Costa Ricans do. We were taken to Sara Piki, my friend's home river, the next day. Sorry I'm getting ahead of myself. I will save that story for another restaurant review.
Thanks again for everything. If you're reading this Mar., Les., Or Nic. I hope you can translate it to understand.

Read moreWhat a gem of a place! Wow! This is absolutely worth the extra few minutes drive from the center of town. What a peaceful setting. My son was thrilled to catch his own fish, and everything from presentation to flavor was on point and absolutely delightful. Our server Jefferson was so attentive and had great recommendations. We will be back during the day to enjoy the scenery, hopefully a frog sighting or two, and another...
Read moreA lovely place on the edge of town with open scenery and freash flowing water. They have a small river which comes out of the grown on their property and they use the water for ponds to raise the fish that they serve in their restaurant. They also have meat from their own cattle. Included in their kitchen is an oven which functions with real firewood. The owners daughter is managing the place and is a very pretty and...
