Elida Lodge — Hotel in Monteverde

Room was comfortable but small. Staff were very helpful. Property was attractive. There is a trail into the Forest but it was closed after a short hike into it. Had to keep the bathroom closed because smell came into room. Interesting that when door was closed, the bathroom didn't smell. Hot water for shower which is a bonus in many Costa Rica hotels. Because the room was small, the windows opened right onto the pathway which felt exposed. There is a coffee shop and restaurant nearby but they close at 6 so anything after that requires a taxi or car. Belmar craft brewery is about a 10 minute walk but the terrain is steep. We had an amazing stay at this lodge. The grounds are very Nice, we enjoyed the hammocks and being close to the nature . The Trail leaving down the forest to the river was super nice, we saw blue butterfles and armadillo on our way. We Also made friends with a very curious cat that lives on the Property. Wish we could stay longer! Spent 3 days here and saw so many beautiful things (the huge hollow tree and hiking trails, parrots, and 6 monkeys right outside our door!) Ronan who owns the property with his brother was so kind to us and even drove us into town the first night to eat at his sisters restaurant (The Green) It was fabulous! He booked multiple tours for us that we were interested in and we had a splendid time. Rooms are good for the price, it's not a luxury resort, but it has everything you need and more!...
