aROMA gelato experience Boutique Split Nelipića 1 (Bosanska) — Restaurant in Grad Split

The place that ruined all other ice cream for me. 🥲 I’ve been around 2 weeks in Croatia visiting different cities so I’ve been to around 8 aROMA stores like 1-2 times per day trying out most flavours they offer and was never disappointed. The gelato they make is aside from it being very tasty, also not as sweet as gelato you get from other places and quite light on the stomach (so after a meal there was always some room left for another scoop or two 🫠). Simply to melt for. I would say this is probably because they use good ingredients, such as fresh milk, which should be also helpful for kost people who are lactose intolerant. The staff is usually very nice and if you cannot decide between the different flavours there is FREE TASTING, so you can try them out and pick the one you like. My favourite was the mascarpone gelato with caramelised figs, which unfortunately I only managed to try once as it somehow was sold out in every city I visitors after I tried it out for the first time on my first stop (🥹), but the others certainly did not disappoint. They even have flavours you usually wouldn’t find anywhere else. The ones I liked the most besides the previously mentioned one were the apple pie and also lemon pie, but also the mascarpone with dates, the almond with figs and pistachios and also the white chocolate one. I have to say they so actually taste as they say, like you literally will have the taste of a proper apple pie or lemon pie.

I highly recommend trying this brand out, tho you might end up never wanting any other ice cream than this one. Try at you...

I don't understand how people evaluate this ice-cream shop with five stars. I'm a professional chef, you can clearly feel the artificial aroma. Even the fruit flavors are made with milk, the perfect way to destroy it's flavors. The cone quality is very poor and all the ice-creams are extremely sweet. Definitely not worth it's price. The price exposed by the shop indicates a cost of an ice cream as 3.5 euro for 100 gr of ice cream. This means that they should put every cone on a scale and give you the exact amount, which doesn't happen at all. Where I live this is a commercial fraud, so it's up to you if you want to get robbed...

The gelato is really good, very thick and creamy. The dark chocolate orange is rich and tastes like real orange. The matcha is pretty good for a matcha flavouring, with some actual tea flavouring instead of just sugar as you see at some places. My friend went back for the pear flavour so many times that I lost count.

I also like the mango flavour a lot. It was decadent and it the mango flavour is intense in a good way. No flavour i tried was bad and the staff were so friendly and nice. i feel like presentation could be a little nicer in the cups/ cones but that's just a minor thing, it's the flavour...
