(Last visited February 8th, 2025.) Wandering around Prague and I notice this gorgeous blue Ferrari Roma parked outside of what looked like a hotel So I went to check it out and nearby it was a sign for Kampa Park. I tried to go check it out, but there was no availability, so I came back the next day and here's how it went...
Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is HUGE many different faces and areas. It was quiet for a Saturday night in my opinion, but I was sat in the premium section right on the water looking directly at The Charles Bridge! Beautiful views, but… if it’s winter, the windows are drafty for sure. Wear long sleeves. I arrived at 5:40pm for my 6:00pm reservation. I loved the dimly lit, romantic ambiance this place provided.
Service: Nicole, the manager was so nice and sweet to me when I came on Friday trying to eat, couldn’t because they were fully booked, but then she found me a reservation for the next day. She took an interest in me and I felt so special. Then my server the next day was awesome as well, I just forgot to get his name.
Food: There were several menus to choose from. Kampa Park always seems to run a special menu of sorts and this time it was the Lobster Menu where everything was lobster-focused. I steered away from that because... I'm from New England! I know lobster! Lol. I wanted to try their tasting menu and here's how it went!
Amuse Bouche: Phenomenal. Easily can taste the price different between last night and tonight already. Well balanced, well, seasoned, good flavors, light, crispy exterior and the sauce helped so much.
1st Course (Octopus Carpaccio): So flavorful. Light. Citrusy, a little sweet, but the octopus was still so surprisingly tender even though it was sliced so thin! Not being much of an octopus eater, I think I prefer THIS style over having much bigger bites of octopus. I could totally tolerate it more!
2nd Course (Veal Tartare): So visually appealing and the truffle smell just makes your mouth water! I literally laughed when u took a bite because it was that incredible. The truffle cream is HEAVY with truffle flavor so if you don’t like truffle, I feel sorry for you. Lol. The veal is tender, succulent, soft and this dish is excellent. The bread is much softer than it leads on to be since it’s toasted. The texture of the dish can get to you after a little bit of eating, but that’s what the bread is for. The quail egg provided quite the show when it exploded, but I don’t think its flavor added to the dish.
3rd Course (Wild Line Caught Seabass): Blown away by how simple, yet complex the dishes are. I loved the crispy skin on the seabass. Risotto had the SLIGHTEST bit of crunch, (but maybe it’s supposed to be like that?) Flavors were mild and just worked so well. Filling dish too. But I won’t like, the risotto felt more like the star of the dish than the seabass. It kinda got lost since it had such a light flavor.
4th Course: (Japanese Kobe Beef Strip Loin): Kobe beef was tender, flavorful, but there were some fatty pieces attached to the meat. The meat definitely melted in your mouth. The spiral potatoes were delicious, cooked well and served as a good compliment to the steak. Carrots were fine, nothing to write home about, but I kept coming back to that beef. It was so good and so flavorful. I’m a bit upset at the amount of fat I cut off of my steak. I feel like if I’m paying this kind of money, I should be able to eat everything on my plate.
5th Course (Dark Chocolate Tart): Dessert was extraordinary. Honestly, my favorite course of the evening. There were surprises, flavors, filling-ness, visual appeal and it was executed so well. The chocolate was rich, but not too sweet. The ice cream was super fruity and had a natural sweetness. This was so well done.
Value: This menu was $166.00USD and the wine pairing was another $80.00. I didn't mention the wines in my review because I'm just not good at reviewing wine. Lol. They went very well with each dish and I certainly left with a great buzz!
In conclusion, I loved it here and would...
Read moreRestaurant Review – Amazing Food & Views, But Service Missed the Mark
We booked our dinner via email well in advance, clearly stating that the occasion was my wife’s birthday. Given the restaurant’s Michelin Guide status, we expected a refined and memorable experience. While the food and views were truly outstanding, a series of small but significant service missteps ultimately diminished what should have been a special evening.
Upon arrival, we stood at the designated “wait here” spot, but no receptionist or manager was present. We waited outside in freezing temperatures (0°C) for five minutes before someone finally noticed and came to greet us. However, as we were being walked inside, we were informed that our table was not yet ready and were redirected to another part of the restaurant to wait. Given the situation, we expected to be promptly offered a drink as a courtesy, but instead, we were simply handed the drinks menu and left without any refreshments.
Once we were finally seated at our table, we placed our drink order directly with the manager. However, he seemingly forgot to communicate it to the waiter, resulting in an unnecessary 20-minute delay. We arrived at the restaurant at 20:35, yet we only received our first drinks—a glass of water and two glasses of Prosecco—at 21:15. This lack of coordination was frustrating and unexpected for a restaurant of this level.
The food, however, was exceptional—beautifully presented, expertly crafted, and worthy of a Michelin Guide mention. The breathtaking views added to the atmosphere, making for a truly picturesque dining setting. But another letdown came when a nearby table received a birthday dessert with fireworks. Since we had made it clear during booking that this dinner was to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we naturally expected a similar gesture. Unfortunately, nothing was done, leaving us feeling overlooked.
To make matters worse, the service charge hadn’t been included on the bill, which seemed like the right approach. However, after having paid, on our way out, I was asked for an additional payment related to it. This unexpected second request made me feel awkward and uncomfortable, especially given the service missteps throughout the evening. I ultimately declined this request.
While the food, ambiance, and our waiter’s kindness were exceptional, these service missteps ultimately affected our overall experience. For a restaurant of this caliber, attention to detail and consistency—especially when celebrating a special occasion—should be a given. Unfortunately, in this case, it wasn’t.
It feels like the restaurant tries to impress and it has all the cards to do so, but the standard small customer service moves get overlooked. The lack of any attempt to fix the issues only made things worse. The manager could have easily improved the situation with a simple apology gesture—offering the first drink on the house, for instance. Even an inexpensive act like this would have drastically improved the...
Read moreHello, We visited your restaurant on Tuesday, July 22nd, for dinner as a group of 14 friends. We had heard so many great things about your place and were full of high expectations. As soon as we arrived at the outdoor seating area, we saw two of our friends already there, smiling with a glass of Champagne in hand. Before we even had a chance to greet them, our waiter came by and quickly served each of us a glass of Champagne as well—which was incredibly thoughtful. As more friends gradually arrived, there wasn’t quite enough seating for all of us, but without us even having to ask, more chairs were promptly brought over so we could all sit together and make a toast. After refilling our glasses, our waiter introduced himself and warmly welcomed us to the restaurant, wishing us a wonderful evening. That set the tone for what became one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had! Our table was perfectly located, and while we toasted, our waiter offered several wine options he had chosen for us to try. In the end, we chose a white wine—a German Riesling—which turned out to be an excellent surprise. We trusted that the red he selected would have been just as good, and based on his recommendations for the rest of the night, we’re sure it was. After approving the wine, we were offered a special steak selection, complete with a thorough presentation. We then moved to our table in the lower part of the restaurant, where we were immediately offered water, wine, and a complimentary basket of fresh bread with herb butter—everything was served quickly and with great attention to detail. One of our friends is gluten intolerant, and this was taken care of without any issue; soon, gluten-free bread appeared at the table. Our waiter expertly explained each dish on the menu. One friend asked in detail about the halibut preparation, and we learned that it’s one of Chef Marek Raditsch’s favorites—he’s very particular about his ingredients and his team, and it really shows. We ordered the tiger prawns, veal tartare, burrata salad, and for the main courses, the pepper steak and halibut. For dessert, we had the chocolate fondant—each course was perfectly timed and paired with the wine, which was truly impressive. Before starting on appetizers, we took a moment to pray together, and our waiter Pavel seamlessly joined us. In that moment, he felt like part of our family—and he always will be in our hearts. We want to thank the entire Kampa Park team—and especially Chef Marek Raditsch for the outstanding food, and Pavel for creating such a special and above-and-beyond atmosphere. This dinner was proof that there are still people who love what they do, have a real eye for detail, and can turn an ordinary dinner into an unforgettable experience. We wish your restaurant continued success and many more happy guests. Thank you, once again, on behalf of all of our friends—we deeply appreciate everything...
