Food was the only redeeming quality of this visit we had. We had the rudest service.
We had poor service. With waiters visibly being annoyed with us starting from when we ordered the food.
One got our drink order wrong and when we tried to say it, he exclaimed annoyed and said “you asked for (drink he served)!” then walked away.
Anytime in between we had contact with them, they just seemed very unwelcoming, barely talked to us.
The waiter did come back with the right drink after some time. We accepted it in the end but I didn’t expect them to add it to our bill since it was their mistake. Perhaps that’s a misunderstanding on our part like they add it because it’s a drink we’re drinking anyway? Idk. But I thought it was kinda rude. Like we didn’t even ask for the first drink he brought, was drinking it because we didn’t want it to go to waste, and then when the correct one comes. without even speaking he just picks up the bill and adds it. If that’s normal in bars (I don’t go to bars often) and I’m not aware of that, fine. But I feel like that was uncalled for.
When they came for the bill, they pushed us FOUR times to tip- and when we decided to switch to cash because he kept asking if we wanted to tip by card, I asked him twice “the (non tip price) yes?” He simply kept quiet, and only returned the change that amounted to the tip price. At that point we got annoyed and prodded on why his behavior was such, he just shrugged and said something along the lines “if you want the non tip price too I can do that” but walked away anyway. As we were leaving we saw him laughing to his co workers.
Wish I was exaggerating. I reallyyy dislike leaving bad reviews but this was just a painfully rude experience. If not rude- awfully pushy and depends on how u react between the lines of where they push you.
The food was good. I’ll give them that. And I would like to think we were very regular unproblematic customers ordering dishes and drinks as per normal. Maybe we’re tourists and they’re annoyed by some of our questions or something. I don’t freaking know.
But if you want a good experience here, you’ve been adequately warned...
Read moreWaiters-scammers!!! We’ve been to Prague and this restaurant before. But this time it was so outrageous that we are never coming back to Pivnice Stupartska again. We ordered food and drinks. They brought us “guliash polevka”. We were a little surprised, it was not in a plate of soup/bowl but on a dinner plate. But it did look like “guliash”. Well we thought it’s an interesting serving. We finished and asked for a bill. A waitress approached us, she was a little confused by her look. She started writing something on a piece of paper and gave me the paper on which there was a price for the food and it was higher when the price according to the menu (more than 12 euros higher). So I asked if I could actually get a real bill. She ran away. I took a menu and checked the price of our dishes one more time. She came back and gave me the bill. It turned out that they gave us the wrong dishes. I told the waitress that it was a wrong order, a mistake from the side of our first waiter. She said with indignation, “But you’ve eaten it!!!.” I replied, “Yes, but we didn’t know it was not what we ordered.” She ran away. In a moment our first waiter came up and started literally screaming at the start, “You ordered, quote, “3 guliashes”, not the guliash polevka.” I said we ordered the soup and tried to show him that apart from the “guliash polevka” there are minimum three other guliashes there with different meat - beef, pork, lam... And he didn’t even ask us at the beginning which one we’d like - and that’s because we asked for the soup which is the only one and first on the page. The waiter almost knocked my hand off the menu and continued screaming. I could stop him only by saying, “I will pay what you want, this conversation is over! But this is very unprofessional. Goodbye!” He left. Now I understand why the waitress didn’t want to give me a real bill with names of the dishes and prices. It’s a scam. They deceive their clients. Of course we didn’t give any tips. I just left the money on the table and we left the place. Never...
Read moreIt was our last day in Prague and we wanted to have nice Czech food. We ordered pork knuckle and roast duck, it was superb. However, when we order draft beer, the gentleman seemed to have misheard dark beer, and we told him when we were served the dark beer. He kinda raised his voice and said, ‘no! you ordered dark beer, this is dark beer!’ i said we ordered draft beer and not dark beer, lager to be specific. He just walked off.
We called upon another gentleman and explained to him the situation, he mentioned that we have to speak to the original gentleman in-charged of our table, guess it’s a turf issue. So he called upon the original gentleman, and he sort of raised his voice again, then walked off. 1 minute later, he swooped the dark beer away and came back with lager without saying a word.
Upon asking for the bill, he mentioned that tip was not included in the bill. That was when we were really put to the test. We gave a good tip nonetheless, not for his poor and arrogant attitude, but we didn’t want to jeopardize his livelihood. It was a difficult decision to make, but we chose to make...
