I went to U Kalendu during my trip to Prague, prior to the holiday I scavenged the web to find an intriguing place to go eat something unique and oooooh, I was NOT DISAPPOINTED. Me and my friend basically ordered a bunch of stuff to share, and it was all unbelievable. We started with some amazing bread served with fresh butter which was soft and savory, and I would have had 1000 slices given the chance. The cheese mousse was light and fresh. The stracciatella with the baked beets felt like eating dessert (I still think about that). The boiled eggs and leek were dreamy and the anchovies cream/sauce underneath was... a surprise? I was expecting a "fishier" taste but instead it was very delicate and balanced with all the other ingredients. Thank you for accomodating my request for some CABBAGE! I fell in love with cabbage during this trip, go figure. We also ordered the dried sausages which we ended up eating later for dinner, but the guys at the restaurant were super nice and gave us a doggy bag. We ended our lunch with a dessert from the bakery, the apricot cheesecake was chef's kiss and I would have another one right now but I live in Italy so... bummer. Go try U Kalendu! You won't be disappointed! They also have a great wine selection if you're into that! I hope to come have another lunch here...
Read moreThe place is located nicely on the Riverbank, has a nice view. The inside is a typical modern Czech beer-bar or as locals would say hospoda. Staff was nice and friendly, the drinks were on point and the food was good.
What really made me leave a somewhat negative comment is that they surcharged us on beers. First, our server would not check regularly on us. Her colleagues did and we ordered. They seemed to have some agreement that everyone has his role. Then we did not get our beers and asked for them again. At each time more beers were booked. We ended up paying for around 25 beers while we were there just for a little over an hour... I also ended up paying the rest as i thought my friends did not cover their share. I was a little salty to have found out that i wasn't the only one who paid 6 beers but drank only 2.
Hope they improve on that. And to the service lady - if you can't wait your table, don't give your colleagues a hard time when they pick up your slack and definitely don't be smug about it in front...

I visited this bakery on my way to the city center, and I’m so glad I did. The bakery items were absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We picked up a few treats that really hit the spot.
On another day, we returned, the place looked closed. However, we noticed some of their bakery items were still out on display. We decided to head inside, which had apparently transformed into a restaurant. I spoke with one of the staff members to see if we could still purchase some of the leftover bakery items. He kindly called the chef, who invited us into the bakery area. It was quiet, and we had the chance to pick out a few items, including a large loaf of bread, which was just as fantastic as everything else.
The staff were so accommodating, and their bakery items were top-notch. The bread was incredibly flavorful, and we brought it home with us. Overall, it’s a wonderful place with a lovely atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back to check out their...
