My wife had this on her "must visit" list, and although we had planned dinner the night before, late travel prevented, so we opted for a late lunch on her birthday! a real win. My wife and I had a concert to attend this evening, and while touring parts of Copenhagen, we had pre-planned to visit Barr before leaving America. We're very glad we did! We ordered the 3 Course Tasting Menu: GRILLED WAFFLE - Herbs, creme fraiche, and bleak roe. This was a great and unique treat with a fantastic combination of flavors! It's not a combo we have ever found in our travels, so the best I can offer is to just try it! So unique and glad we tried here. SCHNITZEL WIENER ART - Free-range pork, brussel sprout, horseradish cream, and Barr’s butter sauce with anchovies. This was a top favorite of the 3 courses. We could feel ourselves getting full, so we ate half and saved the rest for an after-show treat. THAT BUTTER SAUCE!! WOW! For those who are worried about the anchovies, don't. It didn't make the sauce "fishy" and was a perfect match to the dish. The umami was incredible. appreciate the team helping us with a perfectly packaged takeaway. winner. APPLE AND QUINCE - Kefir ice cream, with rosemary caramel and a salt caramel meringue I'm not a huge fan of sweets and deserts, but this was yet another great combo and not too sweet. My wife raved about the mix of the meringue crunch and soft caramel and sweet cream. It was awesome. Travelers tip - Make a reservation. Better safe than sorry! We lucked out, and the wife recommended the high top communal table if available - the booth was tucked away in the restaurant with a view of the harbor.

It's a 5 star place great service and food but I took one star off for the strange fact that if you come here as a couple you both have to get the same thing (plus a few other things about billing). Very few mains and two of them must be shared. Otherwise you must both get I guess a bunch of starters and share the SCHNITZEL WIENER ART as a main. Very strange. The fish and the pork chop are both for 2. The pork chop was amazing and huge. Very good. The fish was good but tricky to eat and they did not filet it at the table which would have been a nice touch for a place of this caliber and price. Service was good. The pork chop was one of the best I've ever had as was the beef tartar we ordered as an app. Very different and wonderful. The couple we were with enjoyed their app of Brown Crab. This was another place that has begun requesting tips when they bring you the bill. An unfortunate trend now it seems. Toward the end of our meal a large and noisy group showed up beside us and were yelling like it was a sports bar. Luckily we were leaving in about 15 minutes. Heads up: They are doing construction around the building so it was a little tricky to find. I forgot to add the bread was amazing (we got charged for it) and the menu probably changes. Also though we asked for 'tap' water we were charged 5 dollars apiece for 'filtered' water.

We started our 4 day trip to one of the worlds finest culinary destinations at Restaurant Barr, once home to NOMA As we entered we were greeted by the front of house, who took our coats and proceeded to sit us down in the main restaurant. The place has tasteful decor and is in keeping with the building. The service is a little hit and miss, which was annoying and sometime you were kept waiting too long. We opted for the 4 course tasting menu which was also hit and miss. We started with SQUID, Kohlrabi and white currant sauce with jalapenos oil. This dish hit all the right notes and gets 10/10 Next was the BEEF TARTARE, with smoked mayonnaise, radish and gooseberries. Sadly the smoked mayonnaise over powdered the tartare and the dish lacked some citrus elements in our opinion. This gets 5/10 For our main, we opted for the MALLARD with grilled mushroom, plums, and elderberry sauce. Overall was a good prepared dish but remember that since the Mallard is wild, it’s more gamey that your usual duck. We had the ROASTED POTATOES with smoked butter with chives and shallots. Highly recommend it Rate this course 7/10 Finally we need with APPLE AND QUINCE Kefir icecream, with rosemary caramel. Overall we rate this 8/10. Overall we had a pleasant experience but think they have some way to go to achieve their first star, should they wish too.

This is a cute casual restaurant just off Copenhagen's waterfront and serves Northern Sea Cuisine (dishes and drinking habits along the North and Baltic Seas). They offer seasonal menus and what's better? They have a beer bar just next to the dining room, you can try as much as you want! The wine list is pretty interesting too! 🫡Lunch only on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Overpriced and overrated! I did the four course prix fixe menu for 685DKK per person. The bread was the highlight of the meal….and, unfortunately, that’s about it. The food wasn’t bad per se, but for the amount paid for this meal, it was extremely underwhelming. Sure, the dishes were somewhat creative, but I felt they focused too much on trying to be unique and not on the actual flavors, texture, and the quality of the dishes. For example, the second course was a salad (shown in picture) and it was literally a small head of lettuce with some odd foam dressing and a spoonful of lump crab meat. The texture of the foam alongside the crunch of the lettuce was not a great combination. It felt like I was eating an unseasoned salad with crab flavored hand foaming soap. The final course, the dessert, was the biggest let-down of the century. I have never turned down desserts, but I could not eat more than a couple bites. You really don’t have to do a lot of fancy things with dessert to make people happy, but Barr did the impossible and created the least desirable dessert I’ve ever tasted. What a disappointment! Save your money and taste buds—there are thousands of other places in the city where you’ll have a better dinner!

Aside from a very pretty aesthetic, our night at Barr was a total waste of time. From the moment we walked in early for our 8pm reservation, we were treated like a nuisance. There were at least 4 open tables near by and they still made us wait 30 minutes to be seated. No one ever came to check on us as we waited at the bar, so I had to eventually track down the hostess to be seated. After we sat, things didn’t get much better. Everything was extremely salty and lacked any sort of delicate or enjoyable flavor. The bone marrow smelt great but tasted like fatty rubber, the cod was covered in a overly sweet/sticky glaze that hid the actual taste of the fish itself, and the wienerschnitzel was already overcooked before they recommended we pour their house sauce over it - which just made it taste even more saturated in sodium. I had two bites and then couldn’t stomach anything else. I’m guessing we just got an off night around the holidays so they weren’t giving it their all. But in our 7 nights out in Copenhagen, everyone agreed this was the worst meal by a mile. Absolute waste of $300+ dollars.
