I had a very good experience at Den Kongelige Operaen on 8/1/2025, it was a school trip but the play we watched ( Billy Elliot ) and the modern technologies stage there was worth it. I had a very joyful night there! Down here is the review about it
Billy Elliot is a musical play performed on 8 January 2025 inside Den Kongelige Operaen. The play depicts a working-class boy named Billy Elliot who has a lovely passion for ballet, he suffers stereotypes living with his dad and inside the neighborhood with bad objectives about male ballet dancers. Despite that, Billy believes in himself to change his life and happiness through ballet. He proved to everyone that he can succeed in ballet. The first thing I loved about the play was its stage design. They made a sophisticated stage able to move vertically and also could be rotated, which could help the audience feel more involved in the play. The design was modern and minimalist, increasing the time efficiency for the performers to move around without taking a break or wasting time. Another thing I loved about the play was the acting skills among the actors, which allowed the play to be more interesting. There was incredible acting skills from the brother of Billy Elliot and one memorable scene is when the brother fought the dad and the acting skills made the scene much more memorable. Although the play had many factors which enhanced the experience, it also had minor negative factors as well. The female miner in the play did not fit in the play and kept on cutting the flow of the scene. For the viewers to be involved in the play, characters that fit into play without any unnatural lines are necessary. Even though the female miner didn’t have many lines, but the lines that were performed were very unnatural and felt very pretentious. The spotty translations were also a negative factor in the play. We weren’t Danish speakers, so for us to be attached in the play, we needed direct and accurate translations. If the translations weren’t delayed, it would have been much more beneficial to both the play and the viewers. In conclusion, the play was quite successful and the actors were very absorbed in the story, the outstanding effects along with the stage lights, instrument sounds and highlights between the climaxes made the attention catchy. But the subtitles were quite small and were in grey colour, sometimes slower than the play itself for non Danish speakers like us. Other than that, everyone had a very cool school trip with a cozy environment watching Billy Elliot at Den...

Read moreThe Opera in Copenhagen was built from a great desire to create an internationally renowned opera house both in terms of opera performances as well as state of the art technology and architecture. The two later more or less achieved, the house is struggling to keep up with the main purpose of staging high-end opera performances. While the danish singers wish to promote the ensemble representation, the original intention was to create an environment were top singers would seek the productions of the Copenhagen Opera. Since economy sets limits, you get a bit of both. This wasn't the intention, but time will show if the Copenhagen Opera gets the means to create the artistic mecca that everyone wishes for - a northern melting pot for opera in Europe. I somehow think the odds are favorable. Things just takes time to develop. The theatre hires the international singers within reach of a smaller budget, and combine with danish singers. The danish ensemble represent both top-notch singers and others struggling with a strenuous bell canto - but all very very good actors. So, you get acting, various level achievements and get entertained by the settings of a bold beautiful architecture facing the harbour and the fantastic orchestra who glues it...
