In the Copenhagen restaurants, Gronnegade is probably the most interesting even if not necessarily the most successful, especially on shallot cutting. But do not anticipate. Nice elegant and cozy. We were initially at the bar, converted into a table, but a real was released in the room. But after reflection, despite the small discomfort of the bar, it could very well have accommodated all evening. The menu is all I hate: a simple litany of the three main elements of the dish. No indication of cooking, sauce or complementary accompaniments. Why this disastrous habit (and ugly on a menu)? You've always been told that it was fashionable, more trendy, than it was conceptual? In fact, only one reason: the chef is not bound to a specific description. He can adapt his recipe according to the taste of the day, the supply of certain products, the will to save money or his natural laziness. He may even (you did not realize it?) completely change the cooking mode if he likes. Obviously this is a general explanation and does not necessarily apply to our restaurant. In retrospect, it is the appetizer that has the most beautiful presentation of all dishes. Fine cutting of vegetables, fine mousse, visual coherence of the plate with the dishes. The first dish is scallops accompanied by a stock of vegetables and sea aster. Very very good. The few chanterelles that dot the plate are welcome. But what come to loose these incongruous corns that, apart from giving a hint of sunny color, are totally irrelevant?
Beef tenderloin is just as irreproachable if not this weird shell of dough that welcomes the vegetables. Inedible texture.
The pata negra is a little gustatory wonder. Provided that you do not touch the semi-shallots almost raw that border it. It's like being in a scene of "The Cabbage Soup"( french comedy). This is rough formwork for the mouth. Nice creme brulee. It's the dessert that's almost perfect. Very amazing presentation, nest-shaped. Topped with balls that form the egg. Taste not necessarily transcendent but we feel an original work. The second chocolate dessert is in the same vein, beautiful visual performance but lack of depth in taste. Gronnegade is an interesting restaurant but unfinished on several points. And the shallots cut in half are much too rustic for the dishes presented, corn is an aberration on the plate. I feel a strong capacity for work and originality but frankly lacking finesse. It is definitely a restaurant that we will hear about in the future if it arrives to gain in delicacy on certain points of detail. The service is very competent and attentive to the customer. Nice choice of wines, obviously very expensive since we are in Denmark. As almost always in Denmark, very good breads. Test the excellent aquavits. Bill of 250 for 2. A bit expensive as always in Denmark.

Read moreI've been meaning to write this review for a while now, so this happened like a year ago. It's not about the food or the service of the restaurant itself, but rather about the attitude of the employees.
My girlfriend and I were biking one day around town and decided to stop and walk into a place close to this restaurant. Because we couldn't notice any place to leave my girlfriend's bike, we leaned it next to a wall, close to the restaurant, which by the way, looked as if it was closed from outside.
We were back 10 min later to find my girlfriend's bike moved, not a little bit away from the restaurant's wall, but in the middle of the street, where cars had to literally go around it.
I went inside and nicely asked the 2 employees there if they were the ones who moved the bike. They could've chosen to reply nicely, but instead they threw an aggressive "YEAH, WE DID" at me, sounding as if almost adding a "SO WHAT?!" to it. I then told them that it wasn’t very nice and that they could've at least move it closer to the sidewalk. They decided to explain to me with the same aggressive tone that it was only our fault to leave it there in the first place.
Just for disclosure, we couldn't see any available bike stands nearby and it is a very common thing in Copenhagen to leave bikes around like that, especially if only for a couple of minutes.
Anyways, I just left there with a bitter taste, wondering if it's the same way that they talk to their...
Read moreNive dinner with few notes to consider.
We recently had a dinner in the restaurant and have truly enjoyed each single serving. The food was simply perfect. A few negative notes have however had some impact on our dinner. First of all, the tables are so close to each other that it looks like you are having dinner together with the people beside you; a little more space (or less tables in the room) would mean a lot. Secondly, we do not agree with the price charged for the water and bread; if the bread cna be said as "quite expensive", the offer for water is simply puzzling. When starting the dinner, you are asked if you want water, and in case you do, charged a fixed price of 45 DKK, never mind if you drink a single glass of water or many. We ordered also several glasses of wine pairing with the food, therefore I would either agree on charging the water per glass or serve it for free (being in any case from the jar and not from some special bottle). My girlfried barely drunk any water and we were anyway charged the fixed price also for her.
I need to highlight that all charges were clear and transparent, therefore nothing was left to interpretation or hidden. We accepted the prices and for this reason cannot complain, however it would be nice to see if some different approach could be considered.
The experience was in any case very nice; we recommend the restaurant, however keeping in mind these few details which, despite small, can bother the very...
