Couple of weeks back while visiting Cph my husband went out for a business dinner so as a great food enthusiast I driven by curiosity :) I have decided to dine alone and chose this place based on recommendation of a friend. My first impression was great - buzzy, fun, charming and cosy…waiters looked competent and full of charisma! I was very excited to dine there. At first one of the team members was very helpful in finding me space inside when I was bothered by smell of cigarette smoke outside ..I waited for a while but understandably as the place was really heaving! And then the real wait began …took a long while until somebody even noticed me sitting (alone) and waiting to be tended to. At last one of the waiters covered with tattoos and armed with something he surely considers a „swag” approached my table. To me that overly relaxed (lets say) attitude felt more like rudeness.. he kept moving from one foot to another, speaking under his nose while looking away. I asked for the wine glass to be changed as it seems to have been used (there were some drops of liquid inside, to be fair could have been from washing and not being well polished.. but that again that also doesn’t inspire confidence) He removed it eventually after making very confused expression on his face as if I was mad a little suggesting it wasn’t ok ? … anyhow after (another) long while I managed to place my order and as a big fan of oysters I dared to ask about the difference between the one I knew very well and the other kind I never heard of, all I got was “its almost the same thing” (needless to say they were totally different texture and flavour.. and thanks god absolutely delicious👌🏻) Before starter arrived tough I got the bread ( if you can call it that) which I can describe by one word only - disgrace! especially in the city with probably the most beautiful sourdough culture in the world. Champagne which I ordered was poured into my glass in a way so I could not see the name of on the bottle as if he was trying to hide it.. revealing it ostentatiously after I had a little taste .. I didn’t quite understand if it was meant to be some sort of a show, I was really puzzled by behaviour of that member of restaurant team and frankly he almost ruined my whole dinner by this weird, unprofessional demeanour. Food was pretty good tough, oysters particularly delicious, mid starter of creamy chanterelles on toast also very tasty if it wasn’t for incredibly stale piece of bread they were poured over. Little note for the chef.. textures and freshness of every single ingredient are incredibly important especially if it’s dish this beautiful and simple by design as creamy mushrooms on toast… real bummer. Main course of mussels was very tasty indeed but I passed on the bread which I would normally dip in the sauce not to ruin the experience. Frankly I would have given this place 2* at the most even with food being pretty tasty tough far perfect and prepped without care or love .. mainly because the waiter serving my table first destroyed the experience almost entirely but thankfully around main course new team member started looking after my table. By being very cultural, pleasant and professional he made me feel much more comfortable and welcome. If it wasn’t for this one friendly soul my evening would have been ruined.. Thank you for...
Read morePhenomenal. The food was on par if not better than my most recent visit to a NY City Michelin star restaurant. We stopped for lunch on Wednesday and all indoor seating was booked and reserved for the day, but we were fortunate enough to get a table in their outdoor seating area. Initially, the Maitre'D and partner, Carsten, did not offer this option likely since it was cold, windy, and raining. However, as soon as he reluctantly offered, we accepted. The table was cozy and shielded us from the rain and wind completely, plus heaters were on over every table. The food was outstanding as was the service. My wife and I ordered the seafood bouillabaisse, the Plaice, and the Turbot entrees, and while my wife had the house wine (exceptional), I had Akvavit and a local beer. After lunch Carsten graciously gave me a tour of the restaurant's interior. Beautiful and expansive on two levels. This restaurant is a must visit when in Copenhagen. Thank you Carsten for the finest meal in memory. I can't begin to understand a 4.1 rating on Google reviews. Perhaps those guests are not well versed in fine cuisine. There are always malcontents for one reason or another who adversely affect a restaurant's ratings, but given that, this restaurant should be a 4.8 at worst. For me, it is a 5-star...
Read moreTHE WAITER LITERALLY TOOK MY RECEIPT THE SECOND AFTER MY PAYMENT IN CASH AND WOULD NOT GIVE IT BACK TO ME SO THAT I COULD BE ABLE TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN! I STRONGLY FEEL THIS WAS MADE IN THE SOLE PURPOSE OF FOOLING ME ABOUT THE CASH AMOUNT I GOT I RETURN, AS I STRONGLY FELT THE AMOUNT OF CASH THAT I GOT IN RETURN WAS FAR TOO LOW! WHAT A SCAM!! SO DISAPPOINTED!
Shame on you for hiring these scammy passive-aggressive waiters. It’s so low class and unprofessional, the McDonalds close by probably have better behaved staff than the guys at Cafe Victors.
Also giving back the rest of the money in the smallest amount of coins is so sad, never again will I invite or come here again.
Oh Cafe Victor how your quality of food/beverages and manners have fallen.
Watch out guys when paying! I do not recommend this place. Will never...
