Valli Bar — Restaurant in Tallinn

I didn't believe the hype about a trip to Tallinn being incomplete without a visit to this tiny, unassuming bar... But I was definitely incorrect. It is a must-visit place.

When we arrived, we were a little unsure. We stuck out like sore thumbs in a room full of locals. But once they started warming up to us, we had a BLAST. We ended up staying for SIX hours and having some very interesting conversations with so many people.

The pictures attached are the Estonia shot (delicious), the Ukraine shot (yum), and their famous Milli Mallika (jellyfish) shot... which is not for the faint-hearted 😅 If you try it, good luck!

Despite being in the old town center this is a very local bar. Small place where locals sit around the bar with a beer and just hang out. Not a lot of space but definitely worth waiting to get a spot for the experience. Staff speaks English and are very professional. They have the traditional “kiluvoileib” which is herring in bread with an slice of cooked egg on top. You have to have it with a shot of vodka of course. The place that tries to take you back 40-50 years. Even though there are some modern touches (fridge, food looks as made in 2020 instead of 1080, it mostly succeeds to do that with its interior. And salmon bread. A great place to meet new people, some more interesting, some less. Can get a bit too cramped for comfort though, especially during the covid times. In the future with no disease spreading, that turns into a positive and i'd change the opinion into 5 star probably. Also, millimallikas. Love it or hate it. Try and...
