Fazer Café 8th Floor — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

Last week my cruise ship stopped there for a day in Helsinki and once in town I realized I forgot to charge my camera,so all my plans for the day had to be modified.As the shuttle bus that took us from the ship to town stopped a few minutes from Stockmann department store and the weather was very unpredictable , I chose to keep the store as my "base" and seek there the shelter when necessary.I took a lift to the 8th floor, the Fazer restaurant.Utter immaculately presented delight,tempting sandwiches and cakes , excellent coffee and fresh orange juice.I chose an open salmon sandwich on home made bread.Then an open smoked fish sandwich. Then a pastry.You could taste it was not mass produced.The wi-fi was quick to access and powerful.And before I knew it 3 hour had passed, the weather had cleared and I spent 2 more hours just walking around and...

I had Fazer's brunch. The spot was a little difficult to find. I thought I would get to enjoy a view of a sunny spring day, but apparently you don't really get a good view at all from anywhere in Stockmann.

Fazer 8th floor has tiny windows and near the brunch section only the à la carte customers seem to get seated anywhere near a window. So don't be fooled by false advertisement of a brunch with a view over the city.

The brunch was decent enough, with some delicious salmon soup, and a couple of decent desserts. The experience was disappointing and expectations weren't met for Fazer, having paid 26€ and an additional 3,60€(!!) for a glass of juice, which should always be included...

Fazer Café 8th Floor is tucked away on the eighth floor of Stockmann, but don’t expect a direct elevator—finding it takes a bit of detective work. Once you arrive, though, the hushed atmosphere and sparse crowd feel like a well-kept secret in the heart of Helsinki.

Dinner offers a choice of five main dishes, all priced very reasonably for the city, and you can help yourself to free water and freshly baked bread at the self-service station.
