Probably the worst restaurant we ever been to. I am not exaggerating. Before you read any further, I am warning you to not throw your hard earned money straight into the garbage just like we did đđđ. Echoing some of the other reviews, the food was a tasteless slob, bland and mediocre while at the very same time and awkward in a way the waiters were super attentive and polite. Where do I begin⌠First, I went to the restaurant and reserved a table. I am picky and requested a specific table, but was kindly explained that specific tables canât be reserved. Okay. When my wife went to get seated with my children at the designated time, she asked for a specific table as they were available. However, this time the very same lady told her that that the table she wanted was reserved. Confusing. We ordered a French onion soup, steak, tartiffe (basically potato ograeten), two fondue, slow cooked lamb and some drinks. The French onion soup was a combination of severely watered down Maggie bouillon, some chopped onions that were still like tortilla chips crispy, and some herbs with their stems on. Really bad soup that ironically is referred to as to as French onion soup. The steak was simply raw. Like Gordon Ramsey likes to say it was still âice coldâ. The potato ogreten was terrible and topped with raw potatoes. One must be very skillful to undercook 2 mm thick slice of potatoes. As it relates to the fondue, we ordered two different kinds of fondues that somehow ended up both in the same pot đđđ. The lamb was extremely dry. You literally need a bottle of wine to finish the meal. They refunded us for the steak and the tartiffe and the waiter (not the woman who took our reservation) was really polite. In fact both young male waiters were really the only positive experience. For this overall catastrophe, we would have been charged close to EUR 200. Skip this restaurant until they get their kitchen in order. I am still trying to process how such neglect would be even...
Read moreIâm not usually one to leave bad reviews, but this meal was the worst Iâve ever had. Despite the serverâs best efforts, dining here felt like a 4-year-old was in charge of the kitchenâthrowing meat on a pan for 10 seconds, taking it off, and plating it.
I ordered my steak medium rare, but calling it âblueâ would have been generousâit was practically a slab of steak tartare. This issue wasnât isolated; our group had four steaks, all with the same problem. We sent them back, and the waiter and I quote said âyou want more moreâ as if they were cooked properly and we didnât know what medium rare is.
When the steaks came out the second time, they were a mess. Some parts were still rare, while others were beyond well-done, to the point it was practically beef jerky. It was honestly just confusing how unevenly cooked they were. Iâve never seen something like this and is the reason Iâm so harsh in this review.
If youâre not planning to order the steak, perhaps disregard this review. Others in my group found their meals edible but nothing special and kind of bland. For me, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience leaving the restraint hungry and...
Read moreIt's our first holiday in France, and after a day of exploring Chamonix and the Mont Blanc valley we sat down at La Moraine to try some authentic french food, as they had this advertised. The food was honestly amazing. The roast duck was super tender and with a honey crumble glaze it was a meal to remember for sure! I could really say anyone looking for an authentic French meal in a nice alpine town will not be disappointed here. I would only advise to book a table at 19 rather than later. It fills up quite quickly after 19:30, which means it will take longer to get your order ready naturally.
It sometimes took some time to get our order across, because the staff aren't always 100% fluent in English. But then again, we're in France and we should be speaking French.
We're already planning going to Chamonix again for some hikes we didn't have time for, and were already excited to visit again to try the onion soup and...
