I’m beginning this with a disclaimer that we booked this through Amex Travel. In France; it seems it shows up as being booked through Expedia. Any seasoned traveler knows this can mean difficulty in your travel due to their policies. ||We had a very difficult time finding this hotel when we were driving in. I don’t think we received the initial email that the hotel sends prior to arrival due to booking through Amex travel. We called and it took quite some time, but we finally found the little sign and the parking garage. Francesca did everything in her power to ensure we found the hotel including walking out in the cold and guiding us into the garage as she learned we were trying to be on time for a massage appointment. She quickly had someone gather our luggage and whisked us away to tell us all the important notes. Throughout our stay, she did our best to address the adversity we faced.||The room was beautiful and the hotel is truly in the center of town near all restaurants. This seems good until you had an experience like we had. We returned to our room around 10pm and planned to have a restful night to be ready for our paragliding the next day. This was FAR from what happened. Being in the center of town means hearing ALL the people leave the bars. I initially called the reception around 12:15pm to ask if this was normal. The reception explained it was Thursday night, so this usually calmed down around 1:00am and he apologized. I again called at 2:00am because the noise CONTINUED and the reception said the police didn’t come and there was nothing that could be done about the noise. The last screen shot I took on my phone to properly notate how late it was that we couldn’t fall asleep due to noise was 3:15am. The next morning, we slept too late to have breakfast (again getting around 6 hours of sleep). The reception listened to our concerns but told us there was nothing they could do, they couldn’t move us as the hotel was fully booked. We were provided a set of earplugs and wished good luck for the coming night. Moving on to the second night, the noise wasn’t quite as bad but still loud. We stayed in Paris and it wasn’t as loud as it was in Chamonix. Essentially we were comped our parking fee and 2 beers. Truthfully, this doesn’t compensate for not resting 2 nights in a row in a 5 star hotel. ||This was THE hotel I was excited about for our trip. This was THE hotel I splurged on. This was THE place I was the most excited about for our trip and it turned out to be the worst stay. ||I am not an old person just being ornery. I am 29 years old, so when I say it was loud, I know I’m not exaggerating. If you want to REST during your stay, pick another location to stay at for $500/night or either require that they reserve your room for the river side of the hotel and it will hopefully be more quiet. When we return to Chamonix, we...
Read moreI am giving it a 5 stars even though they deserve a 4.5 at max. The location is in my opinion, the best you can hope for in Chamonix. Straight on the pedestrian street, short walking distance if not cross from all the activity and the fun.. Restaurants, shops, breakfast stores, rental stores etc... Just perfect. You are also a block away from the Chamonix Centre Bus station that will take you to all ski resorts you want to go to..
Service is great.. The welcome is fantastic.. Everyone is so nice and friendly and helpful. The BEST is the shuttle they provide to the slopes, they go to Grand Montet and Brevent and les Houches, unfortunately they stopped going to Balme (they had their excuse, but not very convincing). The shuttle driver Andres is a sweetheart.. What a gentleman.. This shuttle service is Priceless!!!
The rooms are on the small side but have plenty of charm and storage room.. the bathroom is ok... Very comfy bed and temperature control is great.
The lounge and "salon" are gorgeous and every afternoon they offer sweets and canapes; and they are very tasty.. alcohol is not free (they could however open 2 bottles of wine an evening; it won't break the bank and will be a nice gesture when you are paying 500$ a night).
The spa is beautiful yet small. Great Sauna, jacuzzi and steam room.. Enjoyed it a lot after a day of skiing.
Few remarks to management: Housekeeping is not up to pare with your 5 starts. They don't replenish the toiletry.. I used the cream the 1st day and they NEVER changed it over 5 days. They seem to be a little nonchalant; some stains were not cleaned well. Replenishing the tea and coffee was also inconsistent.. Be clear about the coffee policy in the morning. Few days it was offered for free and one day I was charged. Breakfast is not worth in my opinion the 25 E a person.. You can do better at least in the quality and variety of food you serve. Spa also was not well attended to.. at 6pm, peak hour there was not hot water to...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite hotels I have stayed at, and it deserves its 5-star rating. From the attentive service to the stunning location and luxurious amenities, my stay was exceptional. While there were a few minor inconveniences, they did not detract from an otherwise perfect experience.
Highlights: • The staff were exceptionally attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any request. • The hotel felt serene and uncrowded, providing a peaceful atmosphere. • Its central location made it easy to explore local restaurants and attractions on foot. • The spa was beautifully maintained and offered a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and pool, complemented with tea and water service. • Both the rooms and hotel facilities were immaculate and well-kept. • Room service was prompt and efficient, with housekeeping twice daily. • The room was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. • For our honeymoon, we were welcomed with champagne and strawberries, adding a personal and memorable touch. • The view of Mont Blanc from the property were beautiful.
Areas for Improvement: • The hot tub could be hotter to enhance the relaxation experience. • The hotel breakfast was standard and could be more memorable. • Vehicle access to the entrance is limited, requiring some distance to carry luggage. • The shower door did not fully close, causing repeated water spillage. • There is no on-site gym; however, a nearby public gym is available for €10 per day, approximately a...
