Myself and my friend stayed at Chalet Altitude 1057 for 3 nights during our last minute dash to the alps for opening day of the season|Just an hours transfer from Geneva airport to Chamonix and this chalet is right in the middle of town. About a 200m walk, albeit up hill, from the centre of town. |The Chalet is clean, fresh and well laid out with a large common area and balcony. It has a heated ski room that is secure.|The room was a twin with light coloured wood decor with a tv, table and chair, bathroom with bath and shower. Also a balcony|The reservation we had included breakfast which was personally cooked for us by Milenko the owner. A delightful and friendly man who told us all about the history of Chamonix, the local restaurants and activities and obviously the best places to ride and ski, all whilst cooking and serving a wonderful breakfast. This included coffee, juice, cereal, croissants, crepes, also bacon and egg and crusty bread! Obviously, had a good selection to choose from!|The advice from Milenko over breakfast ended up with us riding off piste ALL DAY opening day, purely because of his knowledge of the area. We didn't even have to hike, was all off the back of lifts in Les Houches. This was a short bus ride away from town on the free bus which ran every half hour. |Last day we took a short walk from the Chalet, again up a quite steep hill, to the Plan Praz lift to access the Brevent Fiegere ski area. |Would definitely recommend this Chalet for people who want a clean, fresh chalet with a warm welcome and central location. All I would advise is that if you are on foot there is quite a steep walk from the town, but only a short one....does the legs no harm if you are skiing in...
