Ah, Brasserie Flottes—a gem nestled in the heart of Paris, exuding timeless elegance and culinary sophistication. Over the years, this brasserie has maintained its reputation as a bastion of French tradition, and my recent visit proved no exception.
Let us begin with the French onion soup, which was nothing short of extraordinary. The broth—a rich, umami-laden concoction—was harmoniously balanced, and the blanket of melted cheese atop was a triumph in indulgence. I daresay it was the best I’ve encountered in years, a true celebration of this classic dish.
Next, the shell-free escargot—a revelation. Tender and delicate, these morsels were positively swimming in a garlic butter sauce so luxurious that I found myself mopping up every last drop with the accompanying bread. It was decadence defined.
The steak tartare? Sublime. Perfectly seasoned and meticulously prepared, it required no additional accoutrements—a testament to the quality of ingredients and the skill of the kitchen. It was a dish that spoke volumes without uttering a single unnecessary note.
Now, the Caesar salad—a well-executed offering, though not entirely to my personal preference. The thick slices of chicken, while expertly cooked, detracted slightly from the salad’s simplicity, which I hold dear. However, I must acknowledge the overall quality and balance of the dish.
Brasserie Flottes is an experience, one steeped in tradition yet unafraid to showcase the artistry of French cuisine. Its ambiance, with Art Nouveau charm and warm lighting, beckons diners to linger and savor. For anyone seeking an authentic Parisian dining experience, Brasserie Flottes is not merely recommended—it is imperative....

It was very busy. We had a reservation and were seated promptly, and despite the crowd they seemed to be seating everyone and serving efficiently.
We ordered one of the seafood platters which had oysters, whelk, shrimp, and langoustine. The waiter explained which oysters were which. Everything was fresh and delicious. It was prepared quickly but with care, nothing was gritty.
We were going to order the anchovies but the waiter informed us that, although it was a well known brand, they are canned not fresh / made in house which we really appreciated. Nothing wrong with canned anchovies but if we are eating at a new place I'd prefer to try something the chef actually prepared, it was nice of her to give us the opportunity to order something else instead, which we did.
The foie gras, which is made there, was delicious.
Beef tartare was very good, a very generous portion. It came with fries and a salad which were delicious, the fries were done very well. It personally wasn't my favorite beef tartare preparation I've had, but that was more a matter of personal preference than anything wrong. It was fresh and still tasty, I'd just order something else next time that was maybe more interesting (seafood seems to be their specialty ofc).
We had creme brulee for dessert and also the "wine surprise." The waiter informed us that the wine was very sweet, which is exactly what I was hoping for but I was again appreciative that she said something just in case. It was very sweet, which I personally like. The creme brulee was simple and also very good, what's...
Read morehad one of the most memorable meals today — truly chef’s kiss from start to finish. even before the dishes arrived, the bread and butter already set the tone. the butter had this beautiful milky aroma and flavour, pairing perfectly with the fresh bread.
then came the oysters. i usually avoid eating too many because they don’t sit well with me, but these changed my mind completely. they were incredibly fresh, not overly salty, with a subtle sweetness at the end - absolutely addictive. i initially planned to have just four, but ended up eating six without a second thought, and honestly, i think i could’ve gone for twelve.
next, the foie gras — visually stunning and even better in taste. the rich, creamy texture of the foie gras paired beautifully with the sweet, fragrant jam, and the crispy toasted bread was the perfect vessel for it. we even asked for an extra half slice of bread just to make sure none of it went to waste.
we also had the mac and cheese with bits of ham — probably one of the best I’ve ever had. wonderfully cheesy, perfectly creamy, and so well balanced in flavour, it was an absolute comfort dish elevated to a whole new level.
to finish, we shared a crème brûlée. the caramelised sugar crust was perfectly thin and crisp, with just the right sweetness and none of the bitterness you sometimes get from burnt sugar. underneath, the custard was luxuriously creamy, with the taste of high-quality vanilla and just a whisper of floral notes.
every dish was spot on, service was warm, and the whole experience felt special. Can’t wait to...
