We just stopped in for lunch, and what a lovely experience! From the warm welcome to the truly wonderful food, it was a great meal. A friend joined us partway through lunch, and although the small dining room had filled up, the staff quickly accommodated us at a bigger table - very kind and helpful. The interior is charming - a low-key, modern version of classic brasserie style both cozy and pleasingly spare. We had a luscious endive starter with bleu cheese and bacon, delicate filet of sole with celeriac puree, a frisée salad with lots of juicy duck pieces, a melty beef rib, carrot ginger soup, and steak tartar. We enjoyed some recommended wine with the marvelous food, and then we stumbled out on to the sidewalk happy as clams and astounded at our luck....
Read moreWe had the escargot, duck confit, and veal. The escargot was great; biggest snails I think I've had. The sauce was also perfect. Unfortunately our entrees were a bit disappointing. They weren't bad, but they didn't stand out either. I'd say they were pretty average. My wife thought the duck's sauce was too salty. The veal sauce and duck sauce were pretty similar too.
We had the creme brulee, which was fine.
Props to the waitress, who recommended an excellent wine that definitely paired well with the food.

Steak was done perfectly medium rare...although a little chewy was full of flavour. I thoroughly enjoyed it although can see why some may find it too chewy if they are used to wagyu.
My wife who is a small eater finished all of her cod which she thoroughly enjoyed.
There were complimentary sides of potatoes cooked in fat (I think) which ere absolutely delicious and I ate too much of. Also served a baby spinach side to share.
