La Campagnola — Restaurant in Paris

The absolute best ice cream I've ever had. I think about it. ALL. THE. TIME. Is it worth the line, YES! If I didn't go on my last day, I would have gone to Berthillon every single day, no joke. I even thought about getting a commercial ice cream maker at home in an attempt to get similar flavours and textures because Paris is a long way from home for me. I so wished I lived in NYC just to be closer. I'd take weekend trips to Paris.

I thought long and hard about my flavour combos, compatibility, and wow, I was so content. My flavours: vanilla (best I've ever had), melon (sorbet), fraise des bois (sorbet), and caramel. I'd scoop a little vanilla with melon and it was like a creamsicle, same with vanilla and fraise des bois. Caramel, also delicious as well. The sorbets tasted like straight fruit picked ripe, not the sorbet you get where sometimes it tastes more sugar water with a hint of fruit, you know what I mean?

Side note: fraise des bois is like the unicorn of strawberries here in the states and here, they sprinkle it on sundaes as if they are weeds growing out back of the shop. So this is what it's like to live in France -...

The owner is from Apulia, the heal of the boot; he and his associate cook very authentic Italian cuisine, with a rotating selection of plats du jour and all time classics. Produce is fresh, meaning there is seasonality to the menu. You might find truffle pasta or calamari ink pasta if you are lucky. The owner is lovely and will always crack a joke if you get to know him well. The wine selection is always good, in doubt, ask for advice. The place is very cozy. Highly recommend. Keep in mind this establishment will wait tables in a french manner, meaning you have to flag the waiter if you need help with anything. Nous nous sommes laisser tenter par les avis positifs en réservant dans ce restaurant. Mes parents viennent de loin donc nous disons 19h30. Il y a une promotion-20% donc parfait. J'arrive avec mon compagnon à 19h26.bon accueil. 19h34 "BON. j'espère qu'ils vont bientôt arriver parce que la promo c'est 19h30". Nous nous confondons en excuse en expliquant que nos parents viennent de loin. Le gérant devient extrement désagréable et infantilisant. Nous commandons des apéritifs sur lesquels les -20% ne s’appliquent pour montrer notre bonne volonté et que l’on allait consommer. Mes parents arrivent à 19h42. Ma mère se confond en excuses. Le gérant lui parle extremement mal, vraiment choquant. J'ai eu honte Qu’on parle comme ça à ma mère de 50 ans. Mon père était très en colère mais passons. Il repasse pour nous redire UNE TROISIÈME FOIS qu’il est bien gentil de nous faire la promo bla bla mais purée LE FRIC LE FRIC. Ne nous faites pas la promo et basta. Les pizzas bonnes sans plus. Les pâtes sans goût. Nous ne prenons pas de desserts meme si nous en avions envie car pas envie de dépenser plus d’argent dans ce restaurant qui maltraite sa clientèle. Le gérant entend ma famille me souhaiter un bon anniversaire : aucune réaction. Ça encore passons. Un petit mot pour se rattraper aurait été apprécié de l’accueil glacial et désagréable. Le pire reste à la fin. Mon compagnon et moi payons : il nous redit en gros que nous sommes des mauvais clients et que normalement il aurait pas du faire la promo. (Oui oui 12 minutes de retard nous on valu d’être traités comme des malpropres et pestiférés). QUATRE fois la volonté d’humilier ses clients. Un anniversaire bâclé alors que je ne vois jamais mes parents. Vraiment une honte. Un anniversaire gâché. Je compte bien faire de la mauvaise publicité et ne plus remettre les pieds dans cette établissement.
