I have lived in Châtelet for 28 years and I’ve often wondered about this place, assuming it would be very good. I ended up deeply disappointed. I was gifted money to enjoy a dinner with my son after some hard work so I thought we would try something special. The greeters were kind and found us a spot despite waiters sitting outside telling us it was fully booked. I started to worry a bit on walking in. The smell of meat despite a not yet started service is powerful, and honestly it really comes across as dirty. There’s like a film on everything from walls to kitchen to glasses to floor. Just everything looks dirty. Thankfully the toilets are really clean and the table and settings were sparkly. I did wonder if we should turn back though and I wish we had. It was never clear who was our waiter, we had several. All of them were very kind though and they paid attention to my son. The food- I had the duck - is really very rustic and simple, no sauce such as honey or pepper or anything, no frills, reminding me of school and company cantines in France. It was cooked to perfection though so that part at least seemed to be of high quality. The fries and green beans were rather ordinary and didn’t suit the dish. My son’s mince steak was very seared and crunchy on the outside, he really struggled with it. Their only juice option was apricot and orange which is rather odd. My glass of wine of the month was excellent, however. They took my plate away and asked what I wanted for dessert before my son had finished half his food. I asked what I should drink with profiteroles (which were really good, not amazing but really good) but they had no idea about wine pairings and all I could find was a champagne cocktail with bitters that was absolutely awful and was not served to me until I’d almost finished my dessert despite telling me it was waiting at the bar. The whole time I had to call over waiters and never the same person. The bill came to 69 euros despite including a child's menu. and being on a strict budget in my normal life and appreciating good quality food I just wanted to cry as it is so so much money and absolutely wasn’t worth it in quality and taste and the whole experience was so disappointing. The only time I would spend remotely close to that money for me and a child would be for a very special festive dinner. It was very busy and popular and I was honestly mystified by that. Everyone seemed rushed off their feet even early on at 7pm. I’m left so disappointed and I very much do not...
Read moreWe visited Le Louchebem as a group of 20 for what was meant to be a memorable final dinner during our group trip to Paris. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be disappointing and far from what we had anticipated.
Each of us ordered different meals alongside several bottles of red wine and glasses of beer. While the gentlemen serving us were exceptionally polite and attentive, the quality of the food fell far below expectations. • The duck was completely inedible. • The fries tasted stale, as if they had been reheated or reused. • Some of the meat dishes were acceptable, but others - such as the ham - were similarly inedible. • The roaster plate arrived entirely cold. • Several sides we had ordered were missing altogether. • One of our guests, who ordered a vegetarian plate, only received their meal after three reminders - and it arrived well after everyone else had started eating.
One positive note was the wine recommendation by one of the servers; it was excellent. However, the overall chaos and poor quality of the food overshadowed this small highlight.
We had initially planned to enjoy dessert as well, but the disorganized and disappointing delivery of the main courses left us so disheartened that we decided against it.
To top it all off, the total bill came to €663, which felt excessive given the lackluster experience.
In summary, while the staff were kind and welcoming, the food quality and service execution did not meet even basic standards, leaving us deeply dissatisfied with what should have been a...
Read moreLe Louchebem is a true gem in the heart of the Les Halles neighborhood in Paris. We had made a reservation online with them for a group of ten one month before our visit to their restaurant - we were a large group from multiple countries converging on Paris for the Christmas holidays. When we arrived at their restaurant at the appointed hour, the table was completely ready. Our name was written in the book. We were immediately taken to our table. Service was excellent. Orders were promptly taken. Food was delivered equally promptly and in abundance. Our group ordered multiple appetizers - bone marrow, escargot, ham, beef cheek salad, broth with noodles. All were excellent. I must add that the Charcuterie platter was beyond delightful and tasty. For the main courses, we ordered the Cote De Boeuf and the Magret de Canard as well as the Onglet - the quantities of food that were brought to the table could have fed 20 people!! For dessert, we had the Tarte Tatin flambeed tableside with Calvados. Again excellent. Finally, I must add that the total bill for the dinner was eminently reasonable for all the food, wine, liquor that we consumed that evening.
Atmosphere so authentic, food wonderful, service impeccable and polite. Our group is still dreaming of the wonderful dinner that we had that evening. Cannot recommend Le Louchebem more highly to anyone visiting Paris. This is a must for a genuine Parisian...
