Le Petit Plateau — Restaurant in Paris

I'm not entirely sure why the reviews are so high. The coffee has no flavour. I wanted just a small pastry and a coffee, and the guy wanted me to eat something else like a meal (I was not hungry). So I ordered a dessert instead, and he still asked "just a dessert?". Then he kind of made fun of me to the chef about my food choices. I can understand french.

I ordered french toast, which was cold on the inside, and burnt to the plate... How do you burn it to the plate? Was it microwaved? I don't know. My coffee was a cafe crème and it tasted like nothing... Not even milk. Just no flavour.

The people working here do seem like they are trying to be kind people, but I didn't appreciate being talked about behind my back. Food was awful, coffee was bad, made me feel self-conscious about my order, and I wasted so much money.

I'm sad...

Le Petit Plateau describes this place perfectly. Very small, cute sort of joint. Located just around the corner from the Notre Dame Cathedral and beats the rest of the local restaurants on price. The food reminded me of how my mother used to cook for me when I was young, but my mother is not a chef in Paris. Simple, affordable, good for children. This area of Paris is very touristic - and so are the options for lunch. "Le Petit Plateau" is a great exception!

The place is small but quirky in all the good ways. The menu is rather short but what you find is very good and the owner is super friendly.
