"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig"
It's not often I find myself at a loss for words when writing a review for a restaurant, bar or really any service, but here, at Panasia, I'm just.............I'm just struggling.
First I should spend a minute and frame the situation. I went to go see Star Wars last night and wanted to have dinner before. Being that I was at the Beaugrenelle "mall" I had choices, namely Lebanese, Mexican, Pub food and of course this place. For some reason or another I rolled the dice on an Asian bistro which purports to make "awesome asian everything"...Panasia.
The restaurant layout is done thoughtfully with the bar and hostess at the entry along with plenty of seating in the dining room. Decor is actually nice, like someone had spent some time putting together the bamboo/teak/angular/modern decor themed space.
Once seated, you open a book which serves as their menu. Inside the book is a combination of one sentence descriptions and a corresponding photo of the dish - I was starting to get worried at this point.
Upon closer inspection, the dishes ran the entire gamut of Asia. You could have a Japanese starter and then a Chinese main dish accompanied by a Korean side. Please note that none of the dishes are grouped according to region, you'd kinda just need to know that's where a given dish comes from.
After ordering food, drinks were delivered quickly and inside of 10/15 minutes the food had arrived. The food itself was presentable but the taste was basically bland, bland and really bland.
It wasn't until that first bite I realized that this "awesome asian everything" restaurant was basically your standard Paris Chinese Restaurant with a different interior. The food seemed to come from our friends at Tang Frere and while the service was good, the pricing was way too high for the quality of the cuisine.
Would I recommend anyone to go here under any circumstance, no. Instead I would suggest saving the money and instead grabbing a burrito or salad or anything else the mall has to offer should you want to eat before a movie...
Read moreI've had good times in restaurants all over the globe, but this is the first time in my life I couldn't resist but write worst treatment we've received today.
It's early at lunch time when me and my family came in. Everything seemed good at first, we took our table, order had been taken nicely by waitress, and we waited patiently for the food to come and served. But then everything was changed when 1 lady with worst attitude and facial expression prepared the glasses for all tables, and approached us with cynical look, and during entire our meals in this restaurant this lady kept doing that attitude towards us.
I don't know exactly what the world has done to this lady that caused her to be this bitter, but she's definitely "too damaged" to run a restaurant with this kind of attitude, especially in Paris. If she's the owner of the restaurant by any chance (cause she's the one on the cashier most of the time), then this restaurant is in serious problems cause the core value of F&B business is hospitality, not just food. I almost felt that this attitude and treatment was an indication of racialism, but that'd be unfortunate cause we are Asians, ordering Asian food in Asian restaurant.
Food is good, but too bad you designated 1 lady who doesn't understand hospitality at all at the front. Hope you can change this for goodness of...
