Bistrot Moderne — Restaurant in Strasbourg

Lots of positive review led us to this establishment. When we arrive for lunch the restaurant was practically deserted, which should have been a warning. Menu looked appealing for lunch. We were greeted by our waitress with very little enthusiasm. We ordered the very large lunch salads, which were very well garnished- even for the €24. Salad dressing was very basic-just a balsamic vinegar- and meat topping were not seared properly and under seasoned. Not bad food, but certainly nothing that will bring me back. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. Service lacked enthusiasm and not really worth a mention. We left without leaving a tip, which very rarely happens-...

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. The food was outstanding, but the service was indescribable. We happened to be locked down in this restaurant during the Strasbourg shooting on December 11. The staff treated us like family and the owner ended up miraculously finding us a hotel when the city center (where our apartment was located) was closed. And he insisted on paying for our room! I cannot thank this...

Service was great. Food was quite basic.... The menu was basically only salads. I was alone in there with my family at one point and it was creeply quiet. No music. No sound coming...
