We have already been at this restaurant during a previous stay and loved everything (especially the excellent quality of food). So we decided to return. Unfortunately our experience was very mixed this time. While service and location continue well, the quality of food is no longer the same. The starters (pâté en croûte de volaille, tempura de queues de crevettes) were still tasty and good, the dessert (fondant au chocolat noir) even excellent. But the main dishes were just disappointing. My fish (filet de Saint-Pierre rôti) was ok, but in terms of taste/spices simply boring. My wife's beef (onglet de boeuf Angus) was a complete disaster. First it came almost raw (extremely bloody) without the service even having asked for her preference. After our complaint, it returned totally dry, chewy and hard bitten. In addition, the whole dish was without any taste (no salt, no pepper, no spices). To be honest, this was probably the worst piece of meat of our life. We do not know if the cook had a really bad day but in a restaurant of that level/price this may...
Read moreI hardly ever post reviews but my experience here was so perfect I had to share. I had a reservation for two but ended up there solo. They couldn’t have been more kind and gave me a lovely seat. There was some language barrier but we did our best and they were always so sweet. I ordered a starter that was crab wrapped in filo pastry. It was crispy and delicious. I then had the duck with sauerkraut and potatoes dauphane. Delightful. But the best was dessert. I got the apple tatin and it may be the best dessert I’ve had in my life. It was almost like an apple butter piled on a little crisp cake, served with a creamy caramel sauce and cinnamon ice cream. I was in heaven. I will think about that ice cream the rest of my life it was that memorably good. I ate my dessert with a latte macchiato and I had Pinot grit with my meal. Like I said, everything was perfect: Food, service, ambience. Do not hesitate...
Read moreQuite a disappointing experience overall. We were tempted in by the Google rating but it failed to live up to this and then some. For the price - €250 for four people (starter and main plus wine) - we'd have expected much better. Overall quality of a standard city eatery - not terrible by any stretch but I wouldn't go beyond 'fine'. Maybe the regular chef was on holiday. The by the glass wine menu was really bad (which we were sadly limited to due to our diverging food choices), but it looked like they had some decent bottles. Service was exceptionally slow, though generally friendly (with the exception of the waitress who flatly denied '18 minutes' wait for the main was out of the ordinary, forgetting the 30 mins it took to clear away the starters). Maybe just an off night but personally...
