This was the first restaurant we visited during our visit to Strasbourg and Colmar, decided to wait until I had a better idea of the food in the region to post my review. I wanted to make sure that any issues we had with the food were not due to the local cuisine but particular to the establishment.

We visited a few days before Christmas and the only availability we found was at 9 pm. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, and we loved all the furnishings. We arrived on time but felt very hurried during our visit, the first person that served us was a bit better. He took some time to answer questions but the lady that followed was constantly on the go, it’s hard to order when the waitress won’t stop by the table for longer than 10 seconds. The reservation was supposed to be for 2 hours but we left before that due to the service we received.

Now for the food, the only thing we particularly enjoyed was the onion tarte. The escargots were small and bland, the beef bourguignon was a couple pieces of meat that was probably left at the bottom of the pan since it was the end of the day without any vegetables. If you don’t have enough food for a portion, just say you’re out. The spätzle was also extremely bland, I really do wonder if they forgot to add any salt to it. Choucroute was ok. The parfait was ridiculously overpriced and had an overpowering flavor of almost like marzipan.

We tried to keep an open mind but this place was a let down. There are other restaurants in the area that...

I went there 5 days ago. I was drawn because of the good reviews and because I wanted to taste traditional alsace food. And to keep it short: everything was almost catastrophe.

Lets begin with the positive aspects: The restaurant is in the center of Strasbourg, so a really good location. The waitress who asked us to wait for 20 mins as we did not book a table was also really nice. Also there was a misunderstanding about my food order and the my right order came really fast then.

And now the aspects where I wish improvements:

As we came in the restaurant and sat in the restaurant it felt really hot and sticky. It would have been nice to open the windows a little bit. The waiter at the restaurant was okay but he did not apologize when he misunderstood my order. Furthermore, when the food arrived it was a catastrophe. The sourkraut tasted like nothing almost and the pork and the sausage needed more aroma as well. Also the potato tasted kinda dry. Also, there was way too much cheese in the salad and I was asking myself if I am still eating a fresh salad or only cheese? Also the sausage in the salad tasted like nothing. The potato gratin was too heavy. There was too much cream in it. Also the sun was shining and the terrace was really dark because of Rollos. Letting in a little bit more light especially during the evening when the sun shines less stronger would be nice.

All in all I would not recommend this restaurant. I’ve rarely been in a restaurant with such bad...

My friend and I were looking forward to eating Saturday dinner here, after a walk around Strasbourg whole day, we gotta say this restaurant were disappointed us! We went to the restaurant and given menus and told to sit down. One of the waitress blonde hair with glasses came over to the table. We asked if we could order the food from google review which we saw from other guests photo taken. She told us and made an unpleasant face: "I don’t know! I don’t have!" We were aghast. In our shocked pause, she shrugged and asked the owner to come over and told us in English that the dishes which we wanted to order are seasonally available only. At this point we said we had changed our minds, finished our main course and left. We are foreigners and there was something about her attitude - and the fact that she clearly felt it was OK to talk to us like this - that did make me wonder if this may have been an element in the way she behaved?! However, this particular waitress (tall, blonde with glasses) was also surly to her colleague when she talked to her, who were white, but not nearly as rude as she'd been to us, so perhaps not. All in all a dreadful shame, because it is a beautiful restaurant and we were enjoying how waitress Camille and the owner’s great services. Needless to say, we...

I visited this place in Wednesday December 28th, 2022 Location: Located within the Petit France. I was sceptic at first since I am not always happy to eat in touristy places but this one had many good reviews. Ambience: Traditional French place. Really comfy. Service: Very nice and polite staff. Always happy to help. Most of them were able to communicate in english and Spanish. Food: Traditional french and german dishes. We had escargots, onion soup, Ham with Potatoes and Sausages. All the dishes were delicious. Standout to the Ham and the onion soup. Portions are more than enough almost American style. We were a party of three and I think 3 appetizers and one main entree would have been enough. Drinks. Plenty of drinking options. Wine, beer, non alcoholic, alcoholic hot beverages, etc. I had a Wine of the House and it was OK. Tips: As in most of Europe, nothing to say here. Price: I would rank it with $$. Not expensive at all but not the cheapest. For a Party of three we paid $83 EUR including two drinks, 3 appetizers, 2 main entrée and dessert. This place surprised me and contradicted my theory about restaurants in touristy areas (generally pricey and not good). If you are a bit like me, give it a try!

Very touristic place. Service was terrible. Even though the kitchen works without lunch break, the waiters are quite arrogant if they want to serve the people coming to their restaurant… and of course, there are plenty of free places, they still are not sure if they want to “work” or not. We came with the baby and they were super slow with unfriendly faces. I do not not even speak about hospitality and smiles! They do not know about this behavior here. Also, we did not get any appetizer/welcome or at least bread with our wine. By the way, pinot noir that we got was also awful. Meals were just ordinary. Nothing special. Long waiting time. In the beginning they even did not pay any attention to us even we were with the baby and the restaurant was not full by the time we came. All in all, disappointment. I do not understand why there is such rating here.

My fiancé and I had high hopes for this restaurant, as it was the first one we chose to visit in Strasburg, and we had made a reservation weeks in advance for Sunday, January 5th. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere was unwelcoming. The hostess’s behavior was unprofessional—she appeared to be mocking English and American customers, which was both uncomfortable and disappointing. When our food arrived, it was overly salty. After politely sending it back, the waitstaff’s attitude became dismissive and even rude. Sadly, the replacement dish was just as salty as the first. Feeling unwelcome and dissatisfied, we left without finishing our meals and still hungry. This was an unfortunate start to what should have been a memorable dining experience. I would not recommend.
