Perles de Saveurs — Restaurant in Strasbourg

We came here based on the recommendation of our hotel. The location is lovely, tucked away in a beautiful courtyard. That's, unfortunately where the good ends.

Our starters, foie gras and tuna tare tare were OK, if a bit odd. (Full slices of foie and full strawberries, it didn't mesh well) but the real issue was our mains.

One person got the lamb pie, the lamb itself was fine, however the sauce was insanely salty. That would be bad.

What was worse was the scallops. Scallops with mushrooms and spinach. OK, sounds fine. The scallops were reasonably well cooked but the amount of salt. I have a love of salt, but sitting here 4 hours later my mouth still feels like I licked a salt lick.

When asked about the food we were honest.

The response was to ignore our party for the rest of the evening. We attempted to get the attention of the staff but somehow ended up being the last people in the restaurant before we could get their attention to get the bill. The server was clearing decor and tablecloths off the other tables.

We wouldn't come back or recommend it to anyone...

Not the best experience. The table we had overlooking the open window was lovely, letting in the warm spring air. The starters were ok, but the the problem started with the main courses. Three of our party ordered the scallops and i ordered the lamb pie. All of the dishes had a single overwhelming salty element. The sauce on the lamb pie was far too salty but was manageable if mixed in with the rest of the plate but certainly didn't add anything. For the scallops the mushroom garnish and sauce left a salty taste to the point it was noticeable long after leaving the restaurant and destroyed any delicacy of the flavour of the scallops. The staff asked our opinion of the dishes and we raised these concerns but there was no follow up. Unfortunate as we hoped they would want to correct such an obvious mistep. As a group we did find it strange that only one element of each dish was so obviously over salted in two seperate dishes while the rest of the elements were balanced and it was not un-noticed that our service slowed after we mentioned the...

It was the end of a long day, and my wife dragged me to this restaurant. Honestly, I was reluctantly tagging along. I’m so glad she insisted we go to Perles de Saveurs. From the first bite to the last, the chef took us on a truly delicious gastronomic journey. All my wife could hear was me muttering “ohh,” “miam,” “wow,” and “umm…” We travel often and have had our fair share of fine dining experiences, but rarely have I been this surprised and delighted by such a rich diversity of exquisite flavors.
