Tante Liesel served and we ate! this little restaurant in the tourist hot spot „petite france“ is a gem. the restaurant is tiny and feels more like the dining room of your actual aunt Liesel, with plenty of nicknacks decorating the historic building. the menu is short but offers all the traditional classics you absolutely want to try when you’re in Strasbourg/Alsace. we started with the Onion tarte and a salad and then chose the beef bourguignon and the jambonneau with munster cheese and potatoes as main dishes. both were delicious. the portions are big, but save some space for a homemade cake - they’re worth it. staff was absolutely delightful and fluent in french, german...

Both waiters were quick and very friendly and welcoming. My knife fell down on the floor and within less than 30 sec, the waiter was there, exchanging the knife and handing me a new one. I would have to say that eventhough everything was good and warmly there's space for improvement regarding technique. The oven potatoes that sided the magret tasted a little as burnt oil and the magret itself could have a better seal on the fat side. The meat on the bouchées à la reine was a little unseasoned. The food being a little unsalted was normal among all elements of the dishes we tried. Overall it was a good experience but will definitely try other options the next time I'll go...
