Marhaba 👋

I recently visited the popular Georgian restaurant Machakhela Tiblisi, and I'm sad to say that the overall dining experience was quite disappointing. As someone who enjoys Georgian cuisine, I had high hopes for this establishment, but unfortunately, the food failed to live up to my expectations.

To begin with, the presentation of the dishes was lackluster. The plates arrived looking rather haphazard, without any attention to aesthetic appeal. This immediately set the tone for the meal, as I expect a certain level of care and artistry when dining at an establishment that bills itself as an authentic Georgian eatery.

Moving on to the flavors, I found the dishes to be underwhelming and lacking the depth and complexity that I've come to associate with traditional Georgian cooking. The kharcho soup, which is typically a highlight of the cuisine, tasted watered down and lacked the robust, hearty flavors I was anticipating. Similarly, the khinkali dumplings, which are a signature Georgian dish, were rather dense and heavy, with the filling failing to pack the punch of seasoning I would have expected.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the adjaruli khachapuri, a Georgian cheese-filled bread that is often the star of the show. In this case, the bread was slightly overdone, and the cheese filling lacked the creamy, tangy goodness that makes this dish so beloved. It was a far cry from the mouthwatering version I've enjoyed at other Georgian...

I have one word to describe this place: Disgusting. The food was absolutely disgusting. 1st of all, all of us finished our dish except one, and that one person didn't receive their dish 10 minutes until after the rest finished theirs. 2nd, the Barbecue Chicken we ordered was not cooked properly. There were a few patches of blood. Then we get to the Chicken with Garlic Sauce. It looked awful, and it was. We cut it open and blood spilled out, clearly raw. We tell them, not a single apology. They attempt to charge us for it, which, sure, that's fine, you had to make it, then they attempt to charge us for something that we weren't even given. Awful. The amount of times this restaurant failed to do something correctly is so impressive that I guarantee you in 100 years it will be written about in history books. If all of humanity put their knowledge together there would be no conceivable way to imagine the amount of times this restaurant failed to do something. It is incredible to me that I am able to see such a failure, and honestly I'm disappointed that I can. When people of Columbia fought to break free from Lungmen, countless soldiers fought and lost their lives in favor of a chance at a better future for their children, they did not give their lives to have their children eat this food. Please fix your customer service and food. If I come back to Georgia from London, I will not be coming back here unless there is a massive...

Unfortunately, There’s no option to give a no star at all!!

The worst service I’ve ever seen in my whole life 👎🏼🤮

I went there 2 times with my wife; first one was at dinner & we ordered khinkali beef & lamb along with a grape juice. It took 50 mins to prepare the food “knowing that the time we went at was not that busy”.

Anyway, the food came & I asked the waitress for some ice cubes, she said that there’s no ice. Even though the table next to us got an ice bucket after a couple of mins!! Not sure is it because we are Muslims that’s why she did that?!

The second time, after 2 days, we went at the breakfast time to have Khachapuri the large one. And I made it clear to the waitress “another lady” that we want it large & I pointed at it on the menu for her which was cost GEL 19.50

After 35 mins waiting “knowing that the restaurant was half empty” she brought the small one!!!

I asked her if this is the large one, she said ohh sorry I forgot it is not the large one, then she said yes it is the large. Again she came back to say that the big one is not that big. Then she asked another waitress to come which the other said it is the small!!

Again that waitress came to me saying sorry about that, but you need to pay for the small one “which I didn’t order” & have it!!!

This restaurant is an absolute scam, overrated & not recommended AT ALL.

That was the worst...

My spouse and I visited this restaurant together, and unfortunately, our experience was the worst we have had at any restaurant in Tbilisi. We’ve been to many restaurants around the city, but this one is by far the worst. We ordered hot coffee, specifically lattes, but when they were served, they were already cold. On top of that, it took about an hour before our order was even taken. It seemed that because we are Asian, the waiter initially ignored us and just let us walk by. Only when my spouse insisted did he come to take our order. After placing the order, we had to wait another 30 minutes before the coffee arrived and it was cold again. The khachapuri also took a very long time to be served. Altogether, we stayed over two hours, and the service was consistently slow and inattentive. Despite this poor treatment, my spouse and I still tipped. But even with our tip, this was by far the worst experience we have had in Tbilisi. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially for Filipino and other Asian customers. The service was poor, slow, and clearly biased, which overshadowed any effort put into the food itself. I hope the management sees this review, investigates the situation, and takes appropriate action to ensure that all guests are treated fairly. If it were possible to give less than 1 star, that is what we would do.
