Namaste Hostel — Hotel in Tbilisi

I had a wondeful time in Namaste hostel! I volunteered in this hostel for two weeks. I decided to apply there because of the friendly and welcoming impression it made as well as the good reviews and let me tell you I was not dissapointed! I had a fantastic time, the staff as well as the people who stayed there were absolutely lovely and kind and welcoming and staying and working there felt like being part of some sort of family. I can genuinely say that I have never felt as at home in a hostel as I have there. The hostel is a small and cosy one, the decorations and wall paintings very creative, and the rooms and kitchen very homely. The balcony offers a fantastic view of Tbilisi and the hostel is close to all major viewpoints.

Also, I saw someone mention previous negative reviews. As of fall last year the hostel has a new owner and he has definitely turned the hostel around and done great work. He has made great improvements (and is making them still) and I can sincerely say that the negative reviews no longer apply. Good hostel. Had a pleasant 2 night stay here. Amazing view on the city from the balcony (see picture). Functional and clean, both the room itself and the shared showers/toilets down the hall. Pleasant interior design & decoration too.

The common kitchen and terrace are also quite nice. You could make some breakfast if you are so inclined. We only used it for some basic coffee & tea in the mornings ourselves. But possible to do some cooking. Saw other guests do that.

Friendly staff, quite available and open for questions.

Good value for money in general.

Now for why I didn’t score it a 5 (would do 4,5 if that was possible). Well nothing is perfect. But apart from that, improvement points: when arriving/coming back late at night you ring a bell audible for the entire hostel. Would be better if they figured out a way for the night concierge to get notified without waking everybody else. Also the WiFi was a bit dodgy. Worked about 80% of the time spent there. Ok. But not perfect.
