I stayed here for four nights in one of their private rooms and took 3 tours. All amazing. In my trip through turkey, georgia, and armenia, I stayed at 3 hostels and Envoy Tbilisi was by far my favorite.||It's not a huge hostel but I liked that and the location is amazing. Walking distance to many of the most popular and/or historic sites of Tbilisi. The fact that you look up on their terrace and are just staring at the Narikala Fortress is amazing. The room is comfortable and clean and you have a nice view out of the window. The shared bathroom on the 2nd floor only has one toilet and one shower but because it's not a big hostel it's not really a problem. I had some breakfast from the hostel once and it was pretty good! Prepare your legs while walking around though because the hostel is up a pretty steep hill so you get a good workout when you go to and from the hostel.||As for tours, I took the day trip to Gergeti Monastery, the walking tour around Tbilisi, and the one-way day tour to Yerevan.||The Gergeti day trip was unbelievable. Kato was our tour guide and she was awesome and super fun. There was fresh snow in the mountains which were basically completely white. In some parts, the snow was probably 4+ feet deep. When we tried to walk to the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument, we literally couldn't because the snow was so deep so we had a fun but exhausting time trying to make it as close as we could. Because of the snow, we couldn't hike to the monastery but it was still fun taking the little van up to it. The views at the monastery aren't done justice by the photos you see online. Truly something to see in person. Oh also the lunch we had was absurdly good even though the khinkalis us non-Georgians made were really ugly. I couldn't eat as much as I wanted to because I got so full. Note: if you get motion sick in cars on windy roads, bring medication that works for you and sit towards the front. I felt quite sick at parts. But that didn't really detract from how great the trip was.||The Tbilisi walking tour was a great way to get my bearings around Tbilisi and hit all of the popular sites. This tour was once again led by Kato and I was the only one on the tour so it was very personal. Besides being knowledgeable about the history and the sites, Kato also added some local knowledge that I couldn't get in a guidebook. Our weather for it was perfect. Could not ask for a better walking tour of the city.||The last tour was the one-way tour to Yerevan. Never have I been on a tour that provided so much value in terms of sightseeing interest and practical travel value. My flight home was out of Yerevan so being able to travel to Yerevan while also taking in sights and enjoying delicious food was perfect. As before, I got a little car sick from the windy roads but it wasn't as bad as during the Gergeti day trip. I think my favorite part (besides the scenery) were the pastries we got towards the end of the trip. They were delicious. We had Christine as our tourguide and like, Kato, she was fantastic and provided so much value to the experience.||All-in-all if you're going to Tbilisi, stay at Envoy and take some of their tours. Read moreThe rooftop terrace is by far the highlight of this hostel — it offers a stunning panoramic view over Tbilisi and is a great place to meet other solo travellers in the evenings. The location is excellent too, right in the heart of Old Tbilisi and within walking distance of major sights, cafés, and sulphur baths.
Overall, Envoy was the best of the three hostels I stayed at in Tbilisi (compared to Fabrika and Elia Boutique), mainly thanks to the social vibe and unbeatable terrace. If you’re a solo traveller looking for a central, sociable spot with a great view, Envoy is a solid choice — just don’t expect luxury or too much flexibility.
What I didn’t like is that the mattresses were quite thin and uncomfortable, and the blanket provided wasn’t warm enough — I found myself feeling cold at night, even in early autumn. The staff are a mixed bag. Some nicer/more helpful than others. It was disappointing they wouldn’t accommodate an early check-in despite empty beds available. It seems like they couldn’t be bothered. I would say considering what you could get it’s priced on the higher side so not the best...
