Ordered red curry pork, spicy beef salad and crispy pork. Two portions of garlic rice. Taste is okay overall but nothing to rave about. Portion sizes a bit small for the prices charged. Brought my own chilis as I do not want bell pepper in substitution. The chef kindly added my red chili to red curry with pork; hardly any curry sauce - that was atypical. Beef salad has enough beef, the quality of which was good, but not enough veggies, which, regrettably, were not integrated with the meat but rather served on the side. I added chopped chili to the salad as there was nothing spicy about it without it; I also added red chili flakes to the curry. Crispy pork was served with Thai sweet chili sauce but I dabbed the crispy pork in hot chili oil I procured from the nearby Chinese restaurant Chinese Snack. The crispy pork was not especially crispy. The waiter, only after I had eaten, offered me some fresh chili to sample; better had it been added to the salad! His chili was spicy but not that hot. He said they have the same hot oil as from the Chinese restaurant but I wasn't offered any with my meal. Food came to 96 lari including two small portions of garlic rice at 14 lari apiece; too expensive, better opt for plain steamed rice. Nice at least that there is no service charge or tax added to the bill. Food here is spiced down to suit the western palate so it cannot be compared to the food in Thailand. The gregarious, loquacious waiter (the older gent) understands English; with the younger, I used google translate. Premises are a bit rundown but what I found annoying was the bass from the boom box. Be prepared to wait 20-25 minutes for your food even if the venue is nearly empty. (At the time of my visit, only one other table, with two diners, was occupied; they were already eating before I ordered. I...
Read moreI recently dined at this Thai restaurant in Tbilisi, eager to experience the authenticity of a real Thai street cafe. Indeed, the atmosphere of the place did resemble the charming street cafes of Thailand, complete with oilcloths on the tables. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment as the evening unfolded.
Firstly, I was quite alarmed to spot cockroaches scuttling about the premises, which is an absolute no-no for any dining establishment. The sight of these unwelcome guests truly put a damper on my experience and was a clear sign of unsanitary conditions.
As for the food, I found the prices to be disproportionately high for the quality and taste of the dishes. The cooking time was significantly longer than expected, which is especially frustrating when you're hungry and looking forward to a delicious meal.
When the food finally arrived, I was disheartened to find that the flavors did not meet my expectations. The Tom Yam soup, a staple in Thai cuisine, had an overpoweringly sour taste, which made it difficult to enjoy. This was a far cry from the rich and balanced flavor profile that this dish is known for.
I couldn't help but compare this experience to another Thai restaurant I've visited in Tbilisi, located at the Orbeliani Bazaar. Not only were the prices there more reasonable, but the food was also considerably better in terms of taste and quality.
Overall, my visit to this Thai restaurant in Tbilisi was a disappointing experience. Despite the charming, street cafe-like ambiance, the presence of cockroaches, high prices, slow cooking time, and subpar taste of the food made it difficult to enjoy my meal. I would recommend exploring other options for Thai...
Read moreWe were craving some thai food and by pure incidence walked by this restaurant and after having seen the high ratings we decided to try it out later on the same evening. We went at around 8 pm and there was no other guests in the restaurant. We had fried spring rolls which tasted bland and old, one pad thai with vegetables and one with beef which didn't taste like pad Thai but like an improvised version of it, no bean sprouts in there either, lemon slice instead of lime. The Thai style Sichuan chicken was ok but also nothing to brag about. We didn't even finish everything because it wasn't a pleasant experience also because of the kitchen fumes seem to blow directly into the dining room. It smelled like frying oil the whole time. I don't understand where this high rating comes from, either the reviews are fake or by people who have absolutely no clue about what authentic Thai food...
