To the ownerâs reply: Your reply itself explains why Georgia wonât be joining the EU in any foreseeable future, blatant denial of reality and gaslighting instead of addressing harassment. âFrequentlyâ? Iâve only been to your bar twice in my life, once last year and once this year. If you donât know what frequently means, check a dictionary. The ownerâs reply is nothing less than a miniature Stalinism in practice, a real-life projection, even 80 years after WW2 lol The ownerâs reply is quintessentially Georgian: criticism â not addressed, but instead the criticâs identity and credibility are attacked. This mindset is identical to Georgian politics, one and the same, truly impressive national consistency lol Unsafe for women, especially on weekends. This bar tolerates harassment and racism, with security staff siding with drunk VIPs instead of protecting guests. I remember the atmosphere being decent, maybe because last year when I came to this bar in Tbilisi with my friends it was early evening and not yet dark. This time I went on a Saturday night with my mates, it was absolute chaos. Security clearly has zero training when it comes to respecting women. The majority of the slightly older male customers I encountered that night were just bad people with no manners. (Not all of them tho, still one or two decent elder male customers showed up and we had very lovely and friendly convos.) I was with some friends, but since some of them were chatting with another group, I stood a bit further away. Two middle-aged Russian men kept pressing me about where I was from, and refused to believe that â2nd generation immigrantâ even exists. A younger Russian guy tried to force me into explaining what second-generation immigrant means, I had to shut it down with, âIâm not a free tutor, you need to pay tuition fees.â Then a Georgian middle-aged man saw the tattoo on my arm and just grabbed me to touch it and thatâs straight-up sexual harassment. A drunk Polish middle-aged guy, claiming he was the barâs biggest customer, acted racist and rude. Because he was supposedly a VIP, security sided with him until I made it clear: âIf heâs not happy with it, I can just call the police.â Only then did they stop protecting him and tell him not to talk to me anymore. Afterwards, security tried to brush it off with âitâs normal for people to talk to you in a bar.â I asked them back: âDoes anyone normally talk to people like this? And who the hell just walks up and grabs someoneâs tattoo without consent?â Another Georgian middle-aged man kept verbally harassing me. Even when I was waiting for my taxi, he came down the stairs to ask: âDo I still have a chance?â which is blatant verbal harassment. So this is a bar that, at least on weekends, manages to combine racism, sexual harassment, and security staff doing nothing. Donât try to excuse it as âcultural differences.â It...
Read moreThe bar is amazing, has its specific vintage atmosphere that serves as a time-machine to Warsaw of 19-20th centuries. It played a huge role in resuscitation of the bohemian spirit of Tbilisi after the pandemics and in these hard times. It is intended to represent Polish culture in Tbilisi and from the perspective of long-lasting friendly relationships between our countries, it is a very positive gesture. I as the person with some Polish ancestry, am very proud of it (My dream is to open "Tbilisi Bar" in Warsaw). But I am afraid sometimes some discrepancies show up between between the initial concept of the bar and the reality. Too many provocative and aggressive people gather, especially after the midnight converting this cozy place to the unbearable swamp of arguments and indecent behaviors, and this does not happen once in a while but rather on the regular basis (and my annoyance is not just because someone fought or yelled, but ruining the identity). Despite professional work of the staff, it is not always easy to neutralize such situations. I write five start owing to the descriptions above and the fact how much the staffs have to endure every day. Bartenders and security are...
Read moreHave been here many times and even though the choice of beer is boring, itâs not a bad place to spend your evening at. The staff and service was also fine, no complains.
I donât like the toilet though which is very stinky and the door is problematic. I closed myself in several times because the lock was getting stuck.
They also should hire more normal Algani security. He tried to take away my glass of beer which wasnât empty. Then he was acting weird, as if he isnât security but someone very important and we all should praise him. Unfortunately I heard some negatives from other people as well that he is being annoying.
Overall I would recommend this place but I think itâs not for everyone and not...
