Liberty square or freedom square, in Georgian (თავისუფლობის მოედანი) Liberty Square is the main square of Tbilisi and is one of the most crowded and popular places in the city. Here you will find the fascinating architecture of the XIX-XX centuries. In the center of the square stands a monument of St. George created by Zurab Tsereteli. Hotels, shops, banks, Tbilisi Tourist Center, Tbilisi City Assembly and museums are located around Liberty Square. There is a big shopping center near the Liberty Sqaure - Galleria Tbilisi. Here is also Pushkin Square. Behind Pushkin Square is the Georgian Art Museum, where the most important works of chasing art and painting are kept. The Rustaveli Cinema and the Georgian National Museum are also located near the square. At the National Museum, you'll discover exhibits from different periods in terms of art and history. The main street of the city - Rustaveli Avenue connects Liberty Square. You can easily reach the old districts of Tbilisi from the square and see many sights of the city. For new year and 26 of march, government design this monument and you can visit it for free and enjoy the eve with friends and family. Like any main attraction this is a big beautiful place also a busy major junction. Just be careful of the street dogs they may look lovely and you might want to pet them, Don’t as they are very aggressive while some locals do feed them that’s fine but as a tourist I highly recommend you not to. Plenty of taxis around and all are looking for your business but again be very careful get a price before you get into a car as again if you’re a tourist they will overcharge you multi times I found this a common occurrence. You can haggling with them but a good guidance of how much to pay is down load an app called Bolt they are usually a safe bet on fares and in general they are safe, however from time to time depending on your location if they have trouble finding a driver to take you from A-B they will encourage you to pay an extra 20% to attract a driver??? For me this is not acceptable so I will wait for 15 minutes and book again but that’s me you may have a different view. Also remember if you want to dine in or around this square you will be paying for the pleasure and it’s expensive again everyone has a choice. I attended to wonder out about a kilometre from there as the price will differ depending upon local restaurants or Turkish for me the local restaurants are safe.
