Since its grand opening in November 2023, The Paragraph Freedom Square has redefined Tbilisi’s luxury hotel landscape. As Marriott’s first and only Luxury Collection property in Georgia, the hotel occupies a striking glass-clad building on the city’s historic Freedom Square. Designed by HAT Design Paris, its architecture elegantly mirrors the capital’s heritage, while the interiors incorporate bold textures and chokha-inspired motifs—an aesthetic homage to Georgian identity.
The hotel features 151 rooms and 69 suites, ranging from 33 to 131 square meters. I stayed in a Premium Suite, spanning over 75 square meters, which offered a separate living room, wine fridge, coffee and tea-making facilities, and a spacious bedroom with thoughtful comforts. A welcoming gesture of Georgian red wine and apples added a personal touch. The suite’s bathroom was a highlight, with marble surfaces, a freestanding bathtub with an integrated TV, and Byredo amenities. Evening turndown service with pralines and a bedtime story offered a whimsical signature element.
Breakfast is served buffet-style, complemented by à la carte offerings such as Eggs Benedict and fresh waffles. The variety—ranging from local specialties to international fare—is commendable. While service was friendly, staff during peak hours appeared overwhelmed, and attentiveness—particularly from porters and the breakfast team—did not always meet the expectations set by the Luxury Collection standard. Dining at Ostigan, the hotel’s fine-dining venue led by Michelin-starred Chef Stéphane Gortina, was a clear highlight. The ambience channels old-world European glamour, and the menu—crafted with seasonal Georgian ingredients—delivered across the board. Standouts included a delicately prepared beef tenderloin and a reimagined mille-feuille. However, lengthy wait times between courses suggested opportunities for refinement in pacing.
The executive lounge “Library”, reserved for suite guests, provided panoramic city views and a curated array of wines, pastries, and hors d’oeuvres. The Paragraph Spa, spread across three levels, impressed with its range of thermal experiences, outdoor and indoor pools, and a panoramic sauna. However, inconsistencies in spa cleanliness and maintenance momentarily detracted from the otherwise ambitious wellness offering. The Eary Rooftop Terrace & Bar, perched atop the hotel, delivers on atmosphere: verdant surroundings, live DJ sets, and expertly mixed cocktails beneath the Tbilisi sky.
In conclusion, The Paragraph Freedom Square is currently the most distinguished luxury hotel in Tbilisi. Its architecture, dining, and location at the gateway to the Old Town set a new benchmark for the city. Yet, inconsistencies in service attentiveness and operational polish signal that this flagship still has room to grow into the full promise of a Luxury...
Read moreA Symphony of Service: A Review of the Paragraph Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia My recent stay at the Paragraph Hotel in Tbilisi wasn't just a vacation, it was an experience orchestrated by a team dedicated to creating unforgettable moments. From the moment George, the ever-smiling bellman, greeted us with refreshments and Tbilisi recommendations, we were enveloped in Georgian hospitality. Luca and Nana at the front desk ensured a seamless check-in, even offering an adapter when I misplaced mine.
Natia, the sommelier, led captivating wine tastings, introducing us to Georgian wines, cuisine, and culture. Maya, the concierge, led a phenomenal walking tour, perfectly balancing history and humor. Mornings began with Tako's sunny greetings and Miriam's exceptional service at the breakfast buffet. The executive lounge offered a delightful intermission with Hellen's refreshing cocktails and insightful conversations. Thomas and Marcus, the hotel managers, exemplified their passion for their staff, a philosophy evident in every interaction.
A highlight was the Khinkali cooking class with Tato, the executive sous chef, and Beka, the Khinkali expert. Their professionalism and passion for Georgian cuisine made it an unforgettable experience. Nika and Jaba, the concierges, were an invaluable resource, securing us prime ballet seats and offering expert recommendations for navigating the city.
The Paragraph itself is a masterpiece, boasting stunning architecture, breathtaking city views, and a luxurious spa. The staff's exceptional knowledge of the property ensured easy navigation. Its convenient location near the metro, a mall, and the cultural center makes it perfect for exploring Tbilisi.
More than a place to stay, the Paragraph is an experience. The exceptional service, stunning property, and dedication to guest service create a symphony of hospitality. A special thanks to Natalie, the assistant manager, whose thoughtful welcome card and behind-the-scenes efforts exemplified the "people make a hotel" philosophy. Read moreThis is simply the most breathtaking hotel I have ever stayed at. I don't know where to begin, but I will try :)
The location couldn't be more in the centre of Tbilisi, near to every touristy site you could ask for, as well as a huge shopping centre.
The facilities are completely mind blowing - definitely recommend taking a room with access to the lounge, to enjoy drinks and nibbles every afternoon. The spa and swimming pool area has every conceivable spa of which one could think, with great chill areas and spaces and the most luxurious feeling amenities, robes and slippers around.
The breakfast is like nothing you have ever experienced. We are breakfast obsessed, and everything was on offer here. Not in a grandiose or OTT way, just everything from fresh breads and pastries (including wonderful almond croissants), eggs, every sweet option, vegetables, delicious juices, cheeses. You won't find a fresher and tastier breakfast with more attentive staff.
Finally, the staff and how they went above and beyond for us during our stay, leaving wonderful gifts in the room for our celebration of our engagement. They also gave us a room upgrade, with high panoramic views, electric curtains, surround sound, a TV by the bath. The other really special thing was how every staff member knew our name, and wanted to connect in a personal way. When they were unable to help us book a massage, they delivered a super nice bottle of champagne to the room, alongside, the very cute touch of bed time stories by the pillows.
The service received from Davit at the counter, from Ani at concierge and Erekele the manager will live long in our memories.
The whole team is so focussed on their work, they do everything and more to ensure enjoyable stays for their guests and I could write pages more about how special this hotel was. Really, we would be mad not to return. And if you have taken the time to read this review, and are thinking about staying in the hotel, you would be mad...
