AKKURAT Café — Restaurant in Berlin

I used to come here every day last year for months, because of how sunny this cafe is. I would come with my laptop to work, I would of course order coffee, which was one of the best I've had in Berlin, and often food as well. As Berlin is such a dark place, this cafe saved me. But now, they banned laptops. At first just during lunch time, which I can understand, and now all the time. Maybe this is the right marketing strategy, but I can't help and feel heartbroken that the only place with sun I could work at was taken away from me. Sorry to rate this cafe so low, but I am now writing this from a dark place, feeling bitter about the fact that what used to be a welcoming place that would give sun to anyone who needed it now changed its rules to provide only for those who will quickly stop by to buy an expensive coffee or...

Sadly one of my worst coffee shop experiences so far. First time I went there it wasn’t busy at all but many tables outside were dirty. Baristas inside were chatting with each other - which is fine 100% when there’s nothing to do. When I said good morning in German one of the baristas just replied ‘English?!’ and then continued to make me feel unwelcome. When I asked specific questions about the available coffees he was very annoyed, said something and then got corrected by his colleague. Filter wasn’t well extracted and a bit overpriced for what was delivered. Gave the place two more chances but was disappointed again. Akkurat is hands down one of the best places in Berlin to get a hella-good cup of coffee. These people know what their doing and the one barista that’s basically there every day is a truly talented barista.

This time I decided to try their food as well and took the ‘Breakfast Bun’. Unfortunately this was really bad. A simple bun with one (poorly) fried egg, a bit of avocado with way too much lemon juice, one slice of cheese and homemade, super acidic, ketchup. Way to acidic overall, very unpleasant to eat. And that for €10 😅
