Umami Mitte — Restaurant in Berlin

We went here for my friends birthday (though we did not tell our of shyness.) This restaurant has only been open for 3-weeks, but to me it seemed like a Michelin star rated establishment. Gordon Ramsey would be proud 🥲

The food here was absolutely authentic and delicious, my friend loved it and said that it made his birthday great! The menu was so friendly and creative, the names were just so clever and artistic, though also gave you a vibe of the food. There were of course also descriptions for the dishes so that you know what you are eating. I ordered the spring rolls as a starter and the gold beef as my main, and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. All the ingredients (especially the mango, and we love a good mango) were so fresh and flavoursome, it really just bursts in your mouth. The food is 100% fantastic and appetising and I could not put it into words!

The service was also absolutely immaculate. They are (mostly) Asian (from what I can tell) which is pretty self-explanatory and expected of an Indo-Chinese Asian Restaurant. You can actually really tell that the staff loves what they are doing and are very happy or proud of their jobs, at least it sure does seem like it! Our waitress was Khoi, a very lively and polite man. He was rather inclusive and friendly and made it very easy to order, speaking both German, English & another Asian language that I could not tell. Thank you so much, pal!

Now don’t even let me get started on the atmosphere. Are. You. Kidding?! The atmosphere made the place. It was so incredibly fascinating and enchanting. You could tell this was Asian by first glance as well, as it has a lot of Chinese decorations and letters, materials, and so on. All the silverware, plates, glass, and so on were clean and SHINY! We were honestly so enthralled in this captivating atmospheric restaurant. Going here was definitely an alluring experience. Friendly for especially the extroverted but also definitely for the introverted as well!

We had a fantastic dining experience at this Vietnamese restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Our waiter, Son, was exceptionally friendly and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The staff as a whole were attentive without being intrusive, always making sure we had everything we needed.

I ordered the chicken curry and the beef pho, and both were absolutely delicious, fresh ingredients, rich flavors, and perfectly balanced seasoning. The curry was aromatic and comforting, while the pho had a deeply flavorful broth and tender beef that melted in the mouth.

I rarely tip in Germany, as tipping here is not a big cultural norm, but this time I did, that alone says how much I enjoyed the meal and service. Excellent food, exceptional service, and a truly memorable evening. Highly...

Terrible service. Looked like a nice place. Multiple staff but all idling around. Place was pretty much empty with little other customers. Waited a long time and signalled multiple times for a waiter/waitress and those on duty saw us a few times, but then pretended not to see and continued to chat (?!). Waiter outside standing there like a soldier though customers outside didn’t need service and turned away from me as well when I tried to signal. What the heck?

Even had one waitress on duty who had to tail her fellow waiter close behind to the outdoors area (like, not even holding or serving any food- what’re you following him out for? Going on a date or flirting at work?)
