A well decorated and large size thai restaurant. It also has a few Malaysian style dishes. It is not groundbreaking thai food. It is a standard thai food preparation you get in most restaurants in Europe. It is far better than the thai food restaurants that you find most places in North America. The menu has your classic dishes from Thailand. The presentation of the dishes is very nice and portions are enough for one person. The restaurant is open till late nights and there is always a good crowd at this restaurant. The food is served fast. There is parking outside. The restaurant is in a Plaza type area. The food is authentic in preparation but a much more milder preparation. When I say authentic preparation they do match 80 to 90 percent I'd the ingredients that you will find of the same dish in Thailand but just a much blander flavor profile which actually hurts the dish in my opinion but I understand why it's done. This is a general challenge in the West eating any Asian food. I have eaten multiple dishes, but honestly, the classics like pad thai or pad kra pao just March 50 to 60 percent of the original thai flavor you get in streets of Bangkok. It's a good dish and tasty, but once you eat in Bangkok and come eat here your expectations are higher. The isarn dishes like som yum and larb chicken were the best out of all the dishes. The beef salad was not what I expected. Usually, in Thailand they grill the meat and then make the salad out of it. But in their preparation they boiled it and you can even see that in the picture and on top of that they made it more bland and I asked for extra spicy but to so that they just cut a few chillis and put it as garnishing on top. This is a great place for beginners to thai food. But not for people who have traveled a lot to Thailand. I would rather give this restaurant 3.5 for food but I will round it up to 4. The best thing about this place is the ambiance. They also serve non alcoholic German beer. This was the first thai restaurant I have eaten in Germany. I have had much more authentic in Amsterdam in places...
Read moreI recently dined at Goodtime, a stylish Thai-Indonesian spot nestled in Berlin’s Mitte district, and walked away impressed — though not entirely blown away.
Right off the bat, the green curry I ordered was a highlight. It was creamy with coconut milk, and the heat level was pleasant rather than overpowering. The flavors—from sweet basil to tender eggplant and green beans—were well balanced, and I could tell the kitchen paid attention to freshness and harmony in the spice blend .
The rice served alongside was a standard but solid companion: neither soggy nor overly dry, and it did its job cleaning up every last drop of curry .
On the drinks side, I had both rosé wine and champagne, which felt like a fun, slightly indulgent pairing. The ambience at Goodtime—modern, with an open kitchen that adds a bit of theatrical flair—matched that elevated mood .
Service was generally decent. It’s the kind of place where the staff seem efficient and unobtrusive, which supports the relaxed but classy vibe. That said, some diners have pointed out that the atmosphere can feel a bit loud or busy, especially during peak hours—but I didn’t find it distracting .
The pricing sits firmly in the mid-to-upper range for Berlin—reasonable given the central location, polished presentation, and well-executed food.
Overall, Goodtime delivered a satisfying night out. The green curry stood out with its flavor and balance; the drinks added a celebratory touch; and the setting felt both contemporary and welcoming. I’d happily return, especially when craving elevated Thai fare in the...
Read moreI have mixed feelings a, about this restaurant. I do like the atmosphere, the open kitchen, the seating area, the deco with the adjacent courtyard, the umbrellas and the hugging toll buildings around. The service was friendly and initially attentive. I ordered the tom yum soup. I love slightly and spicy tom yum soups. It was served with one jumbo scrimp, some white mushrooms, red jalapeños/red pepper in a small bowl. Wished a slightly bigger servings since I love it. The flavor was fine, nothing to complain or write home about. Considering that restaurants are open and they start to try their best for the few customers stumbling in, it was fine. (Even a tom yum soup can be done quickly, it dies not necessarily need a broth sitting overnight.) With the main dish I ask the waiter what the difference in taste sensations were between their red and yellow curry. She read the menu to me. I asked kindly what the flavor difference would be. 'spicy or creamy' I got informed. I rested and ordered the more spicy yellow curry. It came in a bowl and I tried to find different flavors, besides the linear creamy, spicy flavor, some sweetness occurred and that was it. Taste yes. Linear in one flavor direction. Maybe I expected more from the elegant settings. Overall it was a good afternoon snack. I enjoyed the overall combination of all incl. My hot water, for which they...
