I was at first excited to know that a Filipino Restaurant exists in Berlin. Then we went to try the food and was very disappointed how it tasted. Their Dinuguan's meat was all lean meat. The sabaw/sauce? not even a hint of taste of Tanglad (or Luya for that matter).
The Fish kilawin was made without Ginger, kaya medyo malansa pa ito for my taste.
The Pancit palabok was very appetizing to look at, sadly it was too bland. I would say about 2 teaspoons shy ng pampa-alat.
Their Pork Barbecue wasn't grilled, but cooked presumably in an enclosed cooking vessel like an Oven, so walang Pinoy inihaw vibe. Pork meat was also not from the Belly cut of the Pig.
It's also sad to notice that the Wait staff's behaviour eh may pagka Pinoy rin. We could hear him/her making comments under her breath like "dami daming table, e ito pa pinili" (the table needed wiping before we sat down). Another instance was when the other customers requested for their leftover food to be boxed to go, one Staff said "kumakain pa nga 'ko ng ice cream e".
My work deutsche Colleagues often ask me if i knew a Pinoy Restaurant that they could try. Sadly, wouldn't say i would recommend...
Read moreLet me start with the positive side based on our previous experienced. We tried this restaurant 3x for better judgement
Improvement of their plates for food presentation & change of name in google maps so people know what to expect -The food were tasty and sometimes quite big in portions -Ambience on a weekend was like really in the Philippines. A crowd full of Filipinos and some celebrations -Service was good and accommodating -Listen to people’s talent in singing in Karaoke night
The Down side
We ordered Mojito and quite disappointed that there was no visible ice cube/crushed-ice just cold for a cocktail drink. They gave some ice cubes but quite surprised they just add on our glasses. -There were some big group and they lacked some normal plates for our table -Improvements for making sure that food is cooked well -It’s quite loud if you want some conversation when karaoke starts
Lastly we were quite surprised that their Trinkgeld / TIP percentage starts at 15%. Like there is no option for the minimum 10% and felt forced even though there were some mishaps for the...
Read moreI am glad I came tonight, but I am upset that they are closed on Sunday and Monday as I leave on Tuesday.
So I was walking to a Thai restaurant until I walked up to the Filipino Restaurant. I had to stop in because I have eaten many homemade dishes from family friends and know what to expect from the food.
The wait staff are friendly and move very quickly, there is a birthday party tonight and I think one staff member was overwhelmed when I asked for my beer which took 10 minutes.
Fast forward, the food came!!!! I now forgot about the long wait!!!! The kaldereta came out with the rice. The sauce was a little too thick, but it HIT THE SPOT. The flavor was spot on and made me happy I came here tonight. The dish was enough, and I am glad that I didn't order anything else with it. I only wish they served side dishes that consist of mixed vegetables.
Now it is Karaoke time here, and as I eat, it is great entertainment while sitting at the bar.
The atmosphere here has picked up and is lively. This restaurant is a great alternative to the other common restaurants you find...
