Ristorante Bella Vita — Restaurant in Berlin

Let me start of by saying that the food was good, that is why I still give them a star. But the service and the toilets were awful.

The food arived quick and the portions were big (for my standards) but the waiter didn't even look at my friend an I and was busy doing nothing. He did not even ask us if the food was good of something. After we were done eating the waiter came to collect the plates but didn't ask us if we wanted dessert or even said anything. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited a couple more minutes, making sure to have eye contact and signaling to him. But he kept ignoring us. After 20 minutes we decided that we didn't feel like having a dessert anymore.

I needed to go to the bathroom, what I walked in on was a straight from hell kitchen starring Gordon Ramsey. The male bathroom was open, it was just 1 urinal and the trashcan was overflowing. And to my horror. The floor was WET. And I am not religious but I prayed to God it was just water. Then I opened the woman's bathroom and again. The floor was wet, the trashcan was overflowing and there were flies in the toilet bowl. Then I almost ran out of there and went back to my friend STILL at the table because she could not get the waiter to notice her.

Over another 10 minutes an other waiter noticed us and just said "pay?", my friend said "yes please" and that waiter never came back. After another 10 minutes our waiter finally noticed us and asked us in the same tone if we wanted to pay. So we said yes and he opened his wallet but I wanted to pay with card. And he said "no cash? Awh" I think he wanted a tip, but how in the world did he expect a tip. Then we paid with card and after we barely got a goodbye from our waiter we just ran out of there.

Also, it was definitely not that busy at the restaurant at the time we were there.

And one of the cooks was staring the whole night at me. And I am not a pick me that just says that because they wanna feel special. But I was really just stared at the whole night and it made me super feel oncomfortabel and unsafe. I also heard him say something along the lines of "they paying? Awh"

Food 7/10 Service -100/10

RUN, RUN...

Extremely disappointing and uncomfortable experience. My friend and I (both Black Americans) were the first customers in the restaurant when it opened. As more groups came in (all white), every single one of them was served complimentary bread and butter — we were not.

When we asked the waiter why, he said, “It’s because you ordered pizza.” That made absolutely no sense. Complimentary bread usually comes before you even order, while you’re still looking at the menu. In fact, none of the other tables had even ordered yet when they were served bread — so how could the staff know what they were ordering? What if they ordered pizza too?

Then, a second waiter came over and told us we had to vacate from our table because it was “lunch time” and “other customers like to sit in that section. Like helloooo, “we were already seated, eating, and paying customers too — how is that acceptable?what kind of restaurant asks paying customers to move for hypothetical future ones?how are we not customers too? No one else was even waiting for the table neither was it reserved when we sat there.

This didn’t feel like random bad service. It felt personal. It felt discriminatory. We left and won’t be coming...

I barely write reviews, and when I do, it’s either to report exceptional or really bad experience. In the case of this restaurant, it’s unfortunately to report a terribly bad experience:

the “Italian” waiter brought latte macchiato instead of espresso macchiato. But actually this wasn’t the worst.

we dined with three kids and ordered simpel food, spaghetti pomodoro, pizza margarita and plain pasta. I don’t want to assume too much but probably the waiter wasn’t too happy with the sum of the bill. When we ordered it, the kids wanted to pay and we gave them cash to give to waiter. When the waiter arrived he started to scream at them. Give me the money. I don’t have time to stay here waiting for you. I am getting inpatient. Give me the money now, I tell you give me the cash.

The food wasn’t actually too bad, well average given the fact we ordered the simple possible dish. But this place is a no go and...
