Bistro Zicke — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

When I lived in Düsseldorf for 15 years, "Zicke" was one of my favourite spots—an intellectual and artistic hub with a tolerant atmosphere and truly delicious fried potatoes It used to feel like a hidden gem, welcoming to all. Unfortunately, things have changed. The signature fried potatoes now come without onions or bacon, and the once warm, inviting vibe seems reserved only for regulars. As tourists visited from London, we felt like outsiders.

My wife ordered ravioli, but they were sold out. Without any apology from the waitress, she was served a small portion of gnocchi instead. The waitress never checked in to see if everything was okay. In contrast, when a local couple encountered a similar issue, the staff responded with profuse apologies and attentive service.

I was there with my friends. I ordered pancake with tomato and mozarella. It was not a pancake, they have put too much eggs,no flour! It was something between omelet and pancake, completely testeless! It was small and flat, on this "pancake" lay five slices of unripe tomatos and five slices of mozarella on tomatos. No spices, no any greens, nothing what could make this dish more eatable! We were very hungry, but anyway couldn't eat it till the end. Other friend ordered Quiche and it was cold inside. We have sad to waitress that we didn't like the dish, and why. She said only, that she is sorry, she will say to Chef. They didn't offer to us any other dish, or discount (however this "pancake" costs about 8 euro), just said that they are sorry. I was a tourist in Dusseldorf and this place dissapointed me! So basically there are certain times on the menue, when you can order different types of food. The service did pick up the order but did not give any advise, that the food we ordered, or let's say I ordered is not in the current timeframe. So while my pals were eating, I was wondering,what is wrong with my food. After asking, I was told, that what what I had ordered is not available, currently, I mean would have been smart telling me this when taking my order, but ok.
