One of the Benchmark Hotels
I spend 6 month per year in 5* Hotels mainly in the Mariott (Starwood) and Hilton Groups, especially in Asia, and I had the chance to compare Breidenbacher Hof to another 5* Hotel in Dusseldorf which (supposedly) used to be the best Hotel in town and where I stayed for 5 days…. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Staff: 6(!) out of 5 Rooms 5/5 Location 5/5 Food 4/5 The staff in Breidenbacher Hof is just amazing. Highest professionalism meets and airy and joyful atmosphere. It’s the little things like everybody addresses you by your name, staff hands your credit card or documents to you using both hands, and always take their time to have a little chat with you. The hosts are generous, offering you a free drink if you look worn out when you come back to the hotel after a long work day. Sabrina is a gem, welcoming you to your breakfast, and her cheerful personality is just contagious. You can' leave without being in a good mood. Yes, 45 Euro is a steep price for a breakfast, but it is a nice variety and the quality is excellent, e.g. in October you find fresh strawberries in your home made fruit salad and you can start your day with a nice Prosecco. Things are so delicious that you don’t need any food for the rest of the day. I felt very much at home, very well taken care of and very safe (when you are a guest, you will realize why) The gym is a bit small, but still you can work your major muscles with weights, three cable machines and two leg machines, and weights are there up to 20Kg (I think). For Cardio you got a X-Trainer, two treadmills and a spinning bike… no excuse to skip workout ;) The rooms are spacious and very quiet. However, the TV is next to the connecting door between rooms, so if you want to be 100% sure that even a noisy neighbor doesn’t disturb you – get a room without connecting door. The rooms are well maintained, and (!) they have a lot of storage room – closets, side boards, cabinets, plenty of coat hangers per default… a luxury which is harder and harder to find. (I could stow away the all business and casual stuff I brought for three weeks). Beds are perfect, sometimes my back starts hurting after two weeks in a hotel, but here – nothing. Location… perfect. You basically leave the hotel and stand on the main shopping street Koenigsallee with all the more or less exclusive brands, a department store across the hotel and a mall within a 5 minute walk. The other 5 minute walk brings you also to the vibrant old town with loads of restaurants from “budget” to “not budget at all”, and the subway is across the main entrance. A big thank you to the Breidenbacher Hof team , especially to Sabarina and Mrs. Zimmermann for the warm hospitality and such a...
